PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

APC Replacement Battery Cartridge #152 (APCRBC152) - 2 Years Local Warranty

APCRBC152 Datasheet: the 96 V Cartridge for Smart-UPS On-Line SRT 3 kVA

The APCRBC152 is the genuine APC replacement battery cartridge for the 96 V side of the Smart-UPS On-Line SRT range. Schneider's own installation guide covers it together with the APCRBC141 and pairs the two by system voltage: the APCRBC152 with the 96 V battery packs SRT96BP and SRT96RMBP, the APCRBC141 with the 72 V SRT72BP. That pack pairing is published, and it is the key to reading the rest of the part correctly.

This is a long, heavy tray — 762 mm deep and 15.29 kg — built as eight 12 V blocks in series. It is not a consumer part and it is not interchangeable with anything else in the range.

Why This Listing Says 96 V and Schneider's Says 12 V

Schneider's current product name for this part reads "12V 5Ah lead-acid battery". That is the rating of one block inside the tray, not the rating of the cartridge, and it is the single most common source of confusion on this range.

The assembled cartridge is 96 V nominal, made up of eight 12 V blocks in series at 5 Ah. Three things establish it. Schneider's own installation guide pairs the cartridge with the 96 V SRT96BP and SRT96RMBP packs, and 96 divided by 12 is eight. The sibling APCRBC141, covered by the same guide, pairs with the 72 V packs and weighs 11.7 kg — six blocks at 1.95 kg each. This cartridge weighs 15.29 kg, which is eight blocks at 1.91 kg each, within two per cent of the same block. The mass, the block count and the pack voltage all agree.

We publish 96 V because the derivation is sound and because a buyer comparing this against a 12 V cartridge would otherwise be badly misled. If you want the underlying document, the installation guide is linked in the Downloads section below.

Server Rooms, Comms Cabinets and the Cost of a Tired Battery

Double-conversion On-Line UPS units are bought for the loads that cannot tolerate a transfer — storage arrays, virtualisation hosts, medical and lab equipment, trading and payment systems. The irony is that the battery is the part most likely to fail, and it fails quietly. An SRT with an aged cartridge passes its daily checks and then delivers seconds instead of minutes during an actual PUB event.

Singapore is hard on lead-acid batteries. Ambient temperature sits near the top of the useful band all year, and every few degrees of sustained heat shortens a sealed lead-acid battery's service life measurably. A comms cabinet or riser room that runs warm will age a cartridge faster than an air-conditioned server room will. Plan replacement on the calendar instead of waiting for the UPS to fail its self-test, and keep the unit out of direct sun and clear of the warm-air discharge from whatever it is protecting. On a 3 kVA On-Line unit carrying real load, a tired cartridge is the difference between a graceful shutdown and a hard stop across everything in the cabinet.

Genuine APC Supply, GST-Invoiced, from Singapore Stock

SourceIT supplies the APCRBC152 as genuine APC by Schneider Electric stock, sold in Singapore with a GST invoice and local warranty support. We hold this part on the shelf instead of ordering it in, so a failed UPS does not have to wait on a shipment. If you are not certain which cartridge your unit takes, send us the model number printed on the UPS rear panel and we will confirm it against Schneider's documentation before you buy.

Schneider Electric does not publish a UL listing or a CE marking for this cartridge, and we do not claim either. What Schneider does publish is a REACh declaration and a RoHS position, and those are reproduced in the specification table exactly as written.

Two fields deliberately left out. Schneider publishes two different GTIN values for this part across two of its own document revisions, and two different carbon footprint figures across its product page and its data sheet. We have omitted both rather than pick one. If you need the barcode for goods-receipt, ask us and we will confirm which code is on the carton you are being shipped.

Schneider publishes no charge time for a replacement cartridge. Recharge time is a property of the UPS that charges it, not of the battery tray, so look it up on your UPS model, not here.

Compatibility & Runtime

What the APCRBC152 fits

From Schneider's own installation guide, document reference SPD_JGNY-9K29GH_EN, "Installation Guide Smart-UPS On-Line APCRBC152 / APCRBC141". The guide writes the host families with a trailing wildcard for the regional suffix, where I is the 230 V international build, A is 120 / 208 V North America, T is 208 V and J is Japan. Singapore takes the I builds.

  • SRT3000XLx and SRT3000RMXLx — Smart-UPS On-Line 3 kVA tower and rackmount. SourceIT stocks the 230 V builds: SRT3000XLI and SRT3000RMXLI.
  • SRT2200XLx and SRT2200RMXLx — Smart-UPS On-Line 2.2 kVA tower and rackmount. SourceIT stocks SRT2200XLI and SRT2200RMXLI. See the note below on which cartridge the 2.2 kVA units take.
  • SRT96BP — Smart-UPS SRT 96 V 3 kVA external battery pack, tower. Named directly by the installation guide. Stocked here.
  • SRT96RMBP — Smart-UPS SRT 96 V 3 kVA external battery pack, rackmount. Named directly by the installation guide. Stocked here.

Which SRT takes the 152 and which takes the 141

Schneider's guide covers both cartridges against all four UPS families without splitting them model by model, so this is worth spelling out. The guide does split the battery packs: the APCRBC152 goes with the 96 V SRT96BP and SRT96RMBP, and the APCRBC141 goes with the 72 V SRT72BP. Since the pack voltage follows the UPS bus voltage, the reading that fits the published evidence is that the 96 V 3 kVA systems take this cartridge and the 72 V 2.2 kVA systems take the APCRBC141.

That is a reasoned reading of Schneider's own document, not a quotation from it, so we say so plainly. Before you order for a 2.2 kVA unit, send us the model number and we will confirm it with the distributor. Getting this one wrong means a tray that does not seat.

Runtime

A fresh cartridge restores the SRT to the runtime it was rated for at your load; it does not extend it. If you need longer, that is what the external battery packs are for, and the 96 V packs above are the ones that match a 3 kVA SRT. Runtime falls steeply as load rises, so tell us the actual kW rather than the UPS rating and we will read the correct figure off the APC runtime chart.

The cartridge arrives assembled with its connectors already fitted. Schneider ships an installation guide in the box and that guide, not this page, is the authority on how the swap is done on your particular SRT and whether it can be done with the unit running. Read it before you start, and keep the old cartridge intact for recycling.

Sealed lead-acid cartridges must not go into general waste in Singapore. Bring the exhausted cartridge back to us with the replacement and we can arrange collection through a licensed recycler, or dispose of it through your own NEA-licensed collector.

Datasheet & Downloads

Every link below is a Schneider Electric page we have opened and confirmed resolves.

We deliberately do not publish direct PDF links for this part. Schneider's file-download host redirects across domains and has repeatedly returned a different model's document than the one requested, so a direct link is not safe to rely on. Every link above is a Schneider Electric landing page that we have opened and checked. If you would like the PDF itself, email sales@sourceit.com.sg with your UPS model and we will send the current revision together with a GST-invoiced quotation.

Frequently Asked Questions — APCRBC152

Is the APCRBC152 a 12 V cartridge?
No. The assembled cartridge is 96 V nominal, built from eight 12 V blocks in series at 5 Ah. Schneider's product name says "12V 5Ah" because that is the rating of one block inside the tray. The 15.29 kg weight, the eight-block count and the 96 V SRT96BP pack Schneider pairs it with all agree on 96 V.

Which UPS models does it fit?
Schneider's installation guide names the Smart-UPS On-Line SRT2200XL, SRT2200RMXL, SRT3000XL and SRT3000RMXL families, plus the SRT96BP and SRT96RMBP battery packs. For Singapore that means the 230 V "I" builds, all of which we stock. The guide pairs this cartridge specifically with the 96 V packs, which points to the 3 kVA systems; the 72 V 2.2 kVA systems point to the APCRBC141. Send us your model number and we will confirm.

What does the "XLI" or "RMXLI" suffix on my SRT mean?
XL is the extended-runtime build, RM is rackmount and I is the 230 V international version. So SRT3000XLI is a 3 kVA extended-runtime tower for 230 V mains and SRT3000RMXLI is the same electronics in a rack chassis. The A, T and J suffixes are the North American, 208 V and Japanese builds and are not sold here. The suffix genuinely changes the build, so quote it in full when you ask us to check a part.

Can I use this in a 2.2 kVA SRT?
Probably not, and we would rather you asked than found out on site. The 2.2 kVA SRT systems run a 72 V bus and pair with the SRT72BP pack, which Schneider's guide matches to the APCRBC141 rather than to this cartridge. The guide does list both cartridges against both UPS families without splitting them, which is why we will not state it as certain. Send us the model number and we will confirm with the distributor.

How long does the cartridge last, and how long does it take to charge?
Schneider publishes no expected service life for this part, so we do not quote one. In Singapore's climate, plan on the shorter end of whatever your maintenance regime assumes and test rather than guess. On charging, the SRT reaches about 90 per cent capacity in the first three hours on utility power according to Schneider's own guide, but a full recharge is a property of the UPS, not of the battery tray.

Can I change it without shutting the UPS down?
The cartridge ships assembled with connectors fitted, and Schneider's installation guide in the box is the authority on the procedure for your SRT. We do not publish a hot-swap claim for this cartridge because Schneider does not publish one for it. Read the guide first, and if the SRT carries a production load, plan a window.

Why does the listing not show a barcode or a carbon figure?
Because Schneider publishes two conflicting values for each across its own documents, and we would rather show nothing than show the wrong one. Ask us for the code on the carton you are being shipped if you need it for goods-receipt.

Does it come with a local Singapore warranty?
Yes. Every APCRBC152 sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice; APC backs the APCRBC152 with a 2-year manufacturer warranty.
