32 A Dual-Source Power for a Fully Populated Rack
The APC Rack ATS AP4424 is the largest of the three Rack ATS models, rated 7,400 VA at 230 V and 32 A. Two captive IEC 60309 32 A cords connect it to two independent feeds, and eighteen outlets - sixteen C13 and two C19 - distribute that capacity across a densely populated rack of servers, storage and network equipment.
A 2U Chassis, Not 1U - Budget the Space
Unlike the 10 A and 16 A models, the AP4424 occupies 2U at 88 mm high, 432 mm wide and 236 mm deep, and the correct 2U bracket kit ships with it. It is easy to assume this model matches its 1U siblings; Schneider's own data sheet and the successor part name both confirm 2U, so plan two rack units for it.
Protected Branches and Fast Transfer
Two 16 A single-pole circuit breakers split the outlets into two protected banks, so a fault on one branch does not take out the other. Transfer between sources completes in 10 ms maximum on the high sensitivity setting, inside the ride-through of a normal server power supply, and source preference and sensitivity are both selectable.
Managed Over the Network as Standard
The AP4424 includes network management: Web, SNMP, Telnet and SSH access plus EcoStruxure IT Data Center Expert reporting, with a front LCD showing load in amps, the state of both sources, the preferred source and the alarm count. For a Singapore server room running on 230 V mains and exposed to PUB-side voltage dips, that combination of dual-feed hardware and remote visibility is what turns a single-corded rack into a resilient one.

Compatibility & Load Planning
What you can plug into it. Sixteen IEC C13 outlets, each rated to 10 A, take standard C14 equipment cords. Two IEC C19 outlets, each rated to 16 A, take C20 cords for blade chassis, storage shelves and large core switches. Eighteen outlets and 7,400 VA is enough for a fully populated rack, which is the point of this model over its 10 A and 16 A siblings.
Load planning and breakers. Maximum capacity is 7,400 VA at 32 A. The outlets are split across two 16 A single-pole circuit breakers, so balance the load between the two banks rather than loading one to its limit - and remember that in a failover a single source carries everything, so both upstream feeds must be rated for the full 32 A.
Rack fit - this one is 2U. 88 mm high, 432 mm wide, 236 mm deep, and the 2U rack-mount bracket kit ships with it. The AP4421 and AP4423 are 1U; the AP4424 is not. If you are replacing a 1U transfer switch, check you have the extra rack unit free before ordering.
Feeding it. Both input cords are captive IEC 60309 32 A 2P+E, 2.44 m long, so you do not supply input cords - but you do need two 32 A IEC 60309 outlets on two genuinely independent circuits. This is a commando-plug installation, not something you plug into a wall socket; budget for an electrician if those outlets are not already in the rack. Both feeds must be independent for the redundancy to be meaningful.
Management. Network management is built in - Web, SNMP, Telnet and SSH, plus EcoStruxure IT Data Center Expert. No card purchase and no SmartSlot. An EPO input is not documented for this model and we do not claim one.

Locking Output Cords (Sold Separately)
These are the cords that run from this unit's C13 outlets to your equipment's C14 inlets. The locking design stops a cord being nudged out of its outlet while you work in the rack - a common and entirely avoidable cause of an unplanned reboot. Frequently Asked Questions — APC AP4424
Is the AP4424 1U or 2U?
2U. Schneider's own product data sheet gives a height of 88 mm and states the 2U form factor, and the 2U bracket kit ships in the box. Third-party listings often show 1U for this part, so it is worth checking. Its smaller siblings, the AP4421 and AP4423, are the 1U models.
What input supply does it need?
Two independent 32 A IEC 60309 2P+E (commando) circuits. The two 2.44 m input cords are captive, so nothing to buy, but the outlets themselves are a fixed electrical installation - this is not a plug-into-the-wall product. Both circuits must be able to carry the full 32 A on their own, because in a failover one of them will.
How are the outlets protected, and how should I split the load?
Two 16 A single-pole circuit breakers divide the outlets into two protected banks. Each C13 is rated to 10 A and each C19 to 16 A. Balance your load across the two banks rather than filling one bank first - a breaker trip takes out everything downstream of it.
Does the AP4424 include surge protection?
No. Schneider's Rack ATS user guide states that the rack ATS does not include power surge protection and recommends feeding each source from a double-conversion online UPS instead. If surge and sag protection is what you need, that is a UPS function, not a transfer-switch function.
Is network management included or optional?
Included. Web, SNMP, Telnet and SSH access are built in, along with EcoStruxure IT Data Center Expert support, and the front LCD reports load, source state, preferred source and alarms locally. No card purchase is required.
How fast is the transfer?
10 ms maximum on the high sensitivity setting at 50-60 Hz, 12 ms maximum on low sensitivity - short enough for a normal server power supply to ride through. Source preference (A, B or none) and sensitivity are both set from the front panel.
Is the AP4424 still a current product?
Schneider records the AP4424 as end of life, discontinued 12 November 2025 with end of service the same date, and names AP4424A as the successor. SourceIT holds stock and the unit is fully functional, but for a new standard or a multi-site rollout ask us to quote the current generation alongside it.
Does it come with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice?
