APC NetShelter Switched Rack PDU
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
APC NetShelter Switched Rack PDU, 1U, 1 Phase, 2.3kW 230V 10A, (8) C13 Outlets, C14 Cord (AP7920B) - 2 Years Local Warranty
Reboot a Hung Device Without Driving to the Site
The APC NetShelter Switched Rack PDU AP7920B gives you individual on/off control of each of its eight IEC C13 outlets over the network. When a switch, router or appliance locks up at 2 a.m., you power-cycle the outlet from a browser rather than sending someone to the comms room. For a Singapore SME with equipment in a co-location cage or a branch office, that single capability usually pays for the PDU.
Controlled Power-Up Sequencing
Outlets can be brought up in a defined order with configurable delays, so a rack restarting after an outage does not slam every power supply on at once - and so dependent equipment comes up after the infrastructure it relies on. It is a small feature that prevents a specific and common kind of post-outage mess.
2.3 kW at 230 V Through a C14 Inlet
Rated 10 A and 2.3 kW on a 230 V IEC supply (the 12 A / 2.5 kW figure that also appears on the box is the UL-market rating at 208 V), the AP7920B is fed through an IEC C14 inlet on the front of the unit, with a 2.4 m cord. That means it plugs straight into an ordinary C13 outlet on a UPS or upstream PDU - no commando socket, no electrician.
Network Management and Load Metering as Standard
Web, Telnet, SNMP and SSH access are built in, with EcoStruxure IT compatibility and a one-year Secure NMC subscription included, and current is measured to ±5%. In a 1U chassis 44.5 mm high and 108 mm deep weighing 2.26 kg, it adds remote control and visibility to a rack without consuming meaningful space.

Compatibility & Load Planning
What you can plug into it. Eight IEC C13 outlets taking standard C14 equipment cords - switches, routers, firewalls, appliances, small servers, media converters. There are no C19 outlets, and at 10 A total this is deliberately a light-duty unit: it is designed for the network equipment you most want to reboot remotely, not for a rack of power-hungry servers.
Load planning. On a Singapore 230 V supply the applicable figure is the IEC/VDE one: 10 A total and 10 A per outlet, giving 2.3 kW. The 12 A / 2.5 kW figure that also appears on the box is the UL-market rating at 208 V, not extra headroom available to you here - do not plan against it. Eight outlets sharing 10 A means roughly 1.2 A each on average, which is ample for network gear and thin for servers. If you need more headroom, the AP7921B is the same idea at 16 A and 3.7 kW.
Rack fit. 1U high, 444.5 mm wide, 108 mm deep, 2.26 kg - it fits any 19-inch rack including shallow comms cabinets.
Feeding it. The inlet is IEC C14 on the front of the unit, with a 2.4 m cord. That is the easiest supply arrangement in this range: it plugs into any ordinary C13 outlet on a UPS or upstream PDU, so no dedicated circuit and no electrician are required. Feeding it from a UPS is the sensible arrangement - the PDU switches power, it does not store it.
Management. Web, Telnet, SNMP and SSH are built in, no card needed, with EcoStruxure IT compatibility and a one-year Secure NMC subscription included. Schneider does not document an environmental sensor port on this model, so we do not claim one.
What it does not do. No surge protection - Schneider's specification guide for this model contains no surge section at all. Being a switched PDU it also has no battery: it cannot keep anything running through a power cut, only control what is powered when supply is present.
Package Contents & Metered and Switched Rack PDU Ordering Information
What's in the Box
Schneider does not publish a definitive package contents list for the AP7920B, so rather than guess we have not listed one. Ask us and we will confirm the full box contents with the distributor before you order.

Locking Output Cords (Sold Separately)
These are the cords that run from this unit's C13 outlets to your equipment's C14 inlets. The locking design stops a cord being nudged out of its outlet while you work in the rack - a common and entirely avoidable cause of an unplanned reboot. Note that this is an output cord kit, not this unit's supply cord - if you also need an input cord, tell us and we will quote the right type for this model.

Frequently Asked Questions — APC AP7920B
What does "Switched" mean on a Rack PDU?
Each outlet can be turned on and off independently over the network. You can reboot a hung device remotely, shut down an outlet that should not be live, and define the order and delays in which outlets come up after a power failure. A Metered PDU shows you the load but cannot switch; a Basic PDU does neither.
Is 10 A or 12 A the right figure for Singapore?
10 A, giving 2.3 kW. Schneider publishes 12 A / 2.5 kW under UL rules for 208 V markets and 10 A / 2.3 kW under VDE and IEC rules. Singapore follows the IEC convention, so plan against 10 A total across all eight outlets - the UL number is not extra headroom.
Do I need a network management card for it?
No. Web, Telnet, SNMP and SSH access are built in, and a one-year Secure Network Management Card subscription is included. The AP9640 and AP9641 cards in our catalogue are Smart-UPS accessories and are not needed for, or fitted to, this PDU.
Does it have surge protection?
No. Schneider's specification guide for the AP7920B has no surge section, joule rating or clamping figure. Surge and dip protection belongs to a UPS upstream of the PDU, not to the PDU itself.
How does it compare with the AP7921B?
Same 1U chassis, same eight C13 outlets, and the same built-in switching and network management. The difference is the input and the capacity: the AP7920B is 10 A / 2.3 kW through a C14 inlet, so it plugs into an ordinary C13 socket; the AP7921B is 16 A / 3.7 kW through a C20 inlet, needing a 16 A supply cord. Choose on total draw.
Can I power my whole rack from it?
Only a light one. Eight outlets sharing 10 A works well for switches, routers, firewalls and appliances - the equipment you most want to reboot remotely. A rack of servers will exceed 10 A quickly; for that, use a larger metered PDU for distribution and reserve a switched PDU for the network devices.
Is the AP7920B the current model?
Yes - it is Schneider's named replacement for the earlier AP7920, which was discontinued in August 2021. If you have AP7920 units in service, the AP7920B is the like-for-like successor.
Does it come with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice?
Yes. Every APC NetShelter Switched Rack PDU AP7920B sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice; APC backs the AP7920B with a 2-year manufacturer warranty.
