PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
APC 1U 19" Black Modular Toolless Airflow Management Blanking Panel - Qty 10 (AR8136BLK) - 2 Years Local Warranty
APC AR8136BLK — ten 1U toolless blanking panels that make a rack's cooling work
The APC AR8136BLK is a pack of ten 1U, 19-inch, black blanking panels from APC by Schneider Electric that snap into the square-hole vertical rails of a rack without screws, cage nuts or tools. Each panel is 483 mm wide, 45 mm high and 28 mm deep and weighs 90 g. Ten panels fill 10U of empty rack space, which is roughly what an average 42U cabinet has left open once it is built. Because each panel is a single U, the pack covers a 3U gap here and a 7U gap there as easily as one 10U block, and the pieces move with the equipment when the layout changes.
Blanking panels are the cheapest cooling upgrade a rack can get. Servers and switches pull cold air in at the front and push hot air out at the back; every open U in the front plane lets that hot air loop straight back round to the intakes. Fill the gaps and the air the room's air-conditioning delivers goes through the equipment instead of around it — which is why Schneider describes the panel as occupying unused rack space to prevent air recirculation and promoting top-to-bottom airflow movement.
Toolless, modular, and fitted in seconds
Each panel clips into the square holes of an EIA-310 rail by hand, and comes out the same way when the U is needed for new equipment. Because they are 1U modules rather than a fixed 3U or 5U sheet, you can fill any gap exactly — one panel between two switches, four above the UPS — and re-use them as the rack changes. They fit the NetShelter SX AR3100, AR3104 and AR3340 and the Easy Rack ER6202, ER6212 and ER8202 on this site, and any other rack with square-hole rails.
Where the panels go and where they do not
Fit them in the front plane of the rack — the plane the equipment intakes face — in every U that has no equipment in it, including the gap above a shelf-mounted device that does not fill its own height and the U left between devices for future growth. There is no need to blank the rear rails; the goal is to separate the cold intake side from the hot exhaust side, and that separation happens at the front.
The one place not to fit them is in front of equipment that breathes side-to-side, such as some older switches: those need side clearance rather than front blanking. Everything else in a modern rack — servers, storage, rack UPS, PDUs, patch panels — is front-to-back, and benefits from a fully blanked front plane.
Why Singapore server rooms need them more than most
With 30-degree ambient outside and air-conditioning carrying the whole cooling load, a rack that recirculates its own exhaust runs hotter, the air-conditioner runs harder, and the equipment at the top of the cabinet — usually the switches — sits in the warmest air. A pack of AR8136BLK panels costs less than one service call for a switch that has been running at its thermal limit, and it is the first thing we suggest when a customer tells us the top of the rack runs hot even though the room is cold. Everything SourceIT ships is local Singapore stock with a GST invoice.

Compatibility & Fit
Fits
Any 19-inch rack with square-hole vertical rails — NetShelter SX (AR3100, AR3104, AR3340), Easy Rack (ER6202, ER6212, ER8202) and the AR106VI NetShelter 6U wall-mount enclosure wall-mount enclosure, plus third-party cabinets and open frames with square holes. The panel clips into the front rails; it does not need cage nuts.
Does not fit
Racks with round tapped holes or round unthreaded holes. For those, a screw-mounted blanking panel is needed — ask us.
How many packs
Count the empty U in the front plane of each cabinet. A 42U cabinet with 30U of equipment needs 12 panels, so two packs; a 24U AR3104 with 14U installed needs one pack. Include the U above a shelf-mounted device that does not fill its own height.
Pair it with
An AR8122BLK fixed shelf for non-rack equipment, and the NetBotz Rack Monitor 250 (NBRK0250A) or an AP9641 Network Management Card with an AP9335TH temperature and humidity sensor to confirm the intake temperature actually came down once the gaps were closed.
Package Contents & APC NetShelter Airflow Ordering Information
In the box
Ten 1U toolless blanking panels, boxed at 526 mm x 249 mm x 105 mm, 1.64 kg.
Ordering notes
Count the empty front-plane U across all the cabinets in the room and round up to whole packs of ten; it is cheaper to have a few spare panels in the drawer than to leave two U open at the top of a cabinet. For racks with round-hole rails ask us for the screw-mount alternative instead. Packs ship as a small parcel and can travel with a cabinet order or on their own, with a GST invoice either way.

Frequently Asked Questions — APC AR8136BLK
How many panels are in the pack?
Ten 1U panels — 10U of coverage per pack.
Do I need tools or cage nuts?
No. Each panel snaps into the square holes of the front rails by hand and unclips the same way. That is what "toolless" means on this part number.
Will they fit a non-APC rack?
Yes, as long as the rack has 19-inch rails with square holes. They will not fit round-hole rails.
Do blanking panels really make a difference?
Yes. Open U in the front of a rack let hot exhaust recirculate to the equipment intakes; closing them keeps the cold air from the room going through the servers and switches. Schneider, the equipment vendors and every data centre standard recommend blanking every unused U.
Are they metal or plastic?
Schneider does not specify the material on the product page; at 90 g per 1U panel they are light, and they are intended to block airflow, not to carry load.
Do I blank the rear of the rack too?
No. The panels go in the front plane where the equipment intakes are. Blanking the rear would trap hot exhaust. Rear cable and PDU space stays open.
Can I remove a panel later without tools?
Yes. Each panel unclips from the square holes by hand, and can be re-fitted elsewhere as the rack layout changes. Keep the spares from the pack for the next reshuffle.
Is there a taller panel for big gaps?
Schneider makes fixed-height blanking panels as well, but the 1U modular panel is the flexible choice: ten of them fill a 10U gap today and split into ones and twos as the rack fills up. For a very large empty section ask us and we will quote the fixed-height option alongside.
Does it come with a Singapore warranty and a GST invoice?
Yes. Every APC AR8136BLK sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty support and a GST invoice. Schneider does not print a warranty term for this part number; SourceIT supports it under its standard 2-year accessory term.
