Poly Studio V72 Dual-Camera 4K USB Video Bar for Large Meeting Rooms
The Poly Studio V72 is HP’s flagship USB video bar for large rooms. Two 20 MP lenses give it a 140° diagonal wide view alongside a 78° narrow view, so DirectorAI can frame a person at the far end of a long room without the softness that digital cropping alone produces. Camera reach and microphone pickup are both rated to 7.62 m (25 ft). It connects to a room PC or a Mac over a single USB-C cable and is certified by Microsoft Teams as a USB peripheral for large rooms and certified for Zoom.
Dual 20 MP Cameras with Poly DirectorAI Framing
The V72 captures 4K UHD 3840 x 2160 at 30 fps with 7.3x digital zoom and fixed focus. Poly DirectorAI provides speaker framing, people framing, group framing and DirectorAI Perimeter, switching between the wide (140° DFOV / 120° HFOV) and narrow (78° DFOV / 70° HFOV) optics as the conversation moves. An integrated motorised electronic privacy shutter closes the lenses when the room is not in a call.
Two-Way Speakers and a Four-Microphone Beamforming Array
Audio is the reason a large room sounds like a large room. The V72 carries two-way dual speakers — 2 x 20 W RMS mid drivers with aluminium-core 2 x 15 W RMS tweeters and bass ports — covering 120 Hz to 16 kHz. Two MEMS microphones and two second-order gradient microphones form a beamforming array that picks up to 7.62 m, with Poly NoiseBlockAI suppressing background noise and Poly Acoustic Fence keeping voices from outside the meeting area out of the call. An optional expansion microphone extends coverage further.
BYOD and Room-PC Deployment in Singapore Offices
The V72 has no built-in compute: it is a USB peripheral, so the meeting platform runs on the room PC or the laptop plugged into it. That suits Singapore organisations standardising on Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows or on Zoom Rooms appliances, and it lets the same bar serve a Google Meet session through the connected Mac or PC. Wall mount hardware is in the box; VESA and table-stand options are available separately. Fleet monitoring and firmware updates run through HP Poly Lens.

How is the Poly Studio V72 different from the Studio V52 and V12?
All three are USB video bars with no built-in compute. The Studio V12 is the small-room model with a single 20 MP lens and 2 x 5 W stereo speakers. The Studio V52 sits between them. The V72 is the large-room model: two 20 MP lenses, 7.62 m camera reach and pickup, and two-way speakers rated 2 x 20 W RMS mid plus 2 x 15 W RMS tweeters.
Does the Poly Studio V72 have optical zoom?
No. HP specifies 7.3x digital zoom. What gives the V72 its large-room reach is the second, narrower lens (78° DFOV / 70° HFOV) rather than an optical zoom mechanism, so DirectorAI can switch to the tighter optics instead of cropping the wide image.
Do I need a room PC, licence or compute appliance with the Studio V72?
Yes — the V72 is a USB peripheral with no built-in compute. It needs a Mac, a PC or a room compute appliance running Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms or another platform, plus that platform’s room licence. If you would rather have compute inside the device, look at an all-in-one system such as the Poly Studio X72 or Poly Studio X70.
What room size does the Poly Studio V72 cover?
HP positions the V72 for large rooms. The published limits are a camera range of up to 7.62 m (25 ft) and microphone pickup of up to 7.62 m (25 ft); an optional expansion microphone extends coverage in longer rooms.
Can the Studio V72 be powered over PoE?
No. HP states that PoE is not supported on the V72 — it runs from the external AC adapter supplied in the box. Plan a mains outlet at the mounting position.
Can I use the HDMI input on the Studio V72?
The V72 has two HDMI 2.0 outputs and one HDMI 1.4 input, but HP records the HDMI input as not supported. Treat the V72 as a USB-out device and share content through the connected room PC.
