16 x 10G SFP+ Fibre Ports
The NETGEAR XSM4216F (M4250-16XF) is a 16-port all-fibre AV Line managed switch with 16 x 10GBASE-X SFP+ ports, the first 12 of which also accept 1G (1000BASE-X) SFP modules. With 320 Gbps of switching capacity, it is built to aggregate M4250 edge switches over 10G fibre or to connect 10G AV endpoints and servers directly.
Pre-Configured for AV over IP
Out of the box the M4250 is set up for AV over IP. The AV user interface applies ready-made profiles for Dante, AES67, AVB, NDI, Q-SYS and more, while NETGEAR IGMP Plus handles multicast automatically with little-to-no setup, and auto-trunk and auto-LAG link switches together.
Fanless or Quiet Operation
NETGEAR rates the XSM4216F at 0 dBA in fanless mode and 27.44 dBA in quiet mode (at 25°C), with a cool mode for hotter racks — suited to control rooms, classrooms, houses of worship and live venues.
Compact 1U, 200 mm Deep
The 1U chassis is 200 mm deep, keeps the status display on the front and all ports at the back. It ships with standard rack brackets, longer brackets for recessed (2-inch / 5 cm) mounting and rubber feet for tabletop use.

AV User Interface
A dedicated AV user interface (AV UI), reachable over a network port or the out-of-band port, lets AV integrators apply ready-made profiles per port. The AV user manual lists pre-configured templates including Audio Dante, Audio AES67, Audio Video AVB, Audio Video AVB MILAN, Video NDI4, Video NDI5 / NDI6 with Dante, Q-SYS or AES67 audio, and Video with Dante, AES67 or Q-SYS audio. The datasheet names Dante, Q-SYS, AES67 and AVB audio profiles, and NVX, SVSI, Q-SYS, NDI and Dante video profiles.
Management Options
AV UI, the main web UI, CLI and SNMP, plus cloud management via the NETGEAR Insight Cloud Portal or Insight app (per the AV user manual). Out-of-band 1G Ethernet management port, USB-C and RJ45 console ports, and a USB-A port for storage.
Multicast, AVB & Timing
NETGEAR IGMP Plus provides automatic multicast across an M4250/M4300/M4350/M4500 Layer 2 network. IEEE 802.1BA-2011 Audio Video Bridging (802.1AS, 802.1Qav, 802.1Qat, MSRP) is supported, as is a PTPv2 end-to-end transparent clock. AVB licensing: NETGEAR's product page lists an electronic AVB licence (AVB4216F-10000S); the AV user manual states that from firmware 13.0.4.17 a licence is no longer required for AVB.

Does the XSM4216F have copper or PoE ports?
No. All 16 data ports are SFP+ cages and there is no PoE; the only RJ45 port is the out-of-band management port.
Can I use 1G SFP modules?
Yes, on ports 1–12. NETGEAR's datasheet states that all 16 ports run at 10G and the first 12 also support 1000BASE-X (1G) SFP modules.
