Compact Line-Interactive UPS for Home Offices and Workstations
The Eaton 5S 5S1500I is a 1500 VA / 900 W line-interactive UPS in a slim 87 mm-wide tower that can stand beside a PC or lie flat under a monitor. It rides through short outages and brownouts and keeps a desktop, monitor and broadband equipment running long enough to save work and shut down properly.
Eaton quotes 11 minutes of runtime at half load and 2 minutes at full load — sized for a clean shutdown rather than for working through a long outage.
Automatic Voltage Regulation and Surge Protection
Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) corrects the input voltage across a 175–275 V window without drawing on the battery, so everyday sags and swells on the supply are handled by the regulator and the battery is saved for real power cuts. Output stays within 184–276 V.
Outlets are split into (4) C13 battery-backed + (4) C13 surge-only: plug the PC, monitor and router into the battery-backed sockets, and printers or accessories that only need surge protection into the surge-only ones. Eaton also builds data-line protection into the 5S so the internet line (including xDSL) is protected against surges.
USB Shutdown with Eaton UPS Companion
A HID-compliant USB port (cable supplied) integrates with Windows, macOS and Linux power management, per Eaton. Eaton UPS Companion software adds safe system shutdown, energy-usage metering and configuration of UPS settings.
The battery is user-replaceable, so when it reaches the end of its service life the UPS itself does not need to be replaced.
Supplied in Singapore with GST Invoice and 3-Year Warranty

What to Plug In
The 5S1500I suits a single desktop PC with monitor, a home-office router and modem, or a small NAS. Keep the total continuous draw on the battery-backed outlets under 900 W; it is the watt rating, not the VA rating, that limits the load.
Operating System Support
Eaton specifies the HID-compliant USB port for automatic integration with Windows, macOS and Linux, and Eaton UPS Companion for safe shutdown and energy metering. There is no network card slot; for SNMP or network shutdown, the Eaton 5P and 5PX take a Network-M3 card.
Outlets and Plugs
All outlets are IEC C13 and the input is IEC C14. Equipment with BS 1363 (Type G) plugs needs IEC leads or an IEC-input power strip; the carton includes two IEC-IEC cables.

Frequently Asked Questions — Eaton 5S1500I
How long will it run during a power cut?
Eaton rates the 5S1500I at 11 minutes at half load and 2 minutes at full load. That is enough for a controlled shutdown. Lighter loads run longer — send us your load in watts and we will estimate it.
What are the surge-only outlets for?
They protect equipment from surges but do not stay on during an outage. Use them for printers, speakers and chargers; keep the PC, monitor and network gear on the battery-backed outlets.
Can I add an external battery for longer runtime?
No. Eaton lists extended battery capability as "No" for the 5S. For longer runtime look at the Eaton 5PX or 9-series with external battery modules.
Can I replace the battery myself?
Yes — Eaton specifies the battery as user replaceable.
