BenQ AI Contrast on a 27-Inch 4K IPS Panel at 163 PPI
EW is BenQ's premium home and entertainment line, and BenQ AI Contrast is the feature that defines it. Instead of applying one fixed tone curve, the EW2790U analyses the picture and adjusts contrast scene by scene so dark sequences keep their shadow detail and bright ones keep their highlights. The panel is 27-inch IPS at 3840 x 2160 — 163 pixels per inch — rated 350 nits typical and 400 nits peak, certified to VESA DisplayHDR 400, covering 95% DCI-P3 across 1.07 billion colours with a matte finish.
Built for Streaming, Remote Work and Casual Play on One Desk
Three HDMI 2.0 inputs mean a console, a media box and a desktop can all stay connected, while the USB-C input carries DisplayPort Alt Mode with 65W Power Delivery so a work laptop runs video, data and charging down a single cable. Two 5W speakers are built in for video calls and streaming without a soundbar, and a headphone jack is fitted. For a Singapore flat where one screen has to serve remote work by day and films at night, that combination is the point of the model.
Display Pilot 2 and a Four-Port Downstream Hub
Display Pilot 2 puts window layouts, colour modes and monitor settings on the desktop rather than behind an on-screen menu, and Display QuicKit handles quick adjustments. Downstream the monitor provides three USB Type-A ports and one USB Type-C port, each supporting 7.5W charging, so keyboard, mouse, a headset dongle and a portable drive all live on the screen and follow whichever machine is connected. Firmware can be updated over USB.
Full Ergonomic Stand and TUV-Certified Eye Care
The stand tilts -5 to 20 degrees, swivels 20 degrees each way, pivots 90 degrees into portrait and offers 110 mm of height adjustment, with a 100 x 100 mm VESA pattern for an arm or wall bracket. Mounting and orientation
The supplied stand tilts -5° to 20°, swivels 20° each way, pivots 90° into portrait and gives 110 mm of height adjustment. A 100 x 100 mm VESA pattern on the rear takes a monitor arm or wall bracket if desk space is tight or a second screen sits alongside.
What it connects to
Three HDMI 2.0 inputs plus one USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode and 65W Power Delivery. There is no DisplayPort connector on this model, so a desktop graphics card connects over HDMI, or over USB-C where the card supports video on that port. Downstream there are three USB Type-A ports and one USB Type-C port, each with 7.5W charging, plus a headphone jack.
Audio
Two 5W speakers are built in — enough for video calls, streaming and casual viewing without a soundbar. A headphone jack is fitted on the panel. If you want a woofer in the chassis, the 31.5-inch EW3290U carries a 2.1-channel system instead.
Software and management

Gaming and MOBIUZ

What separates the EW line from MOBIUZ?
They are two distinct BenQ ranges. EW is the premium home and entertainment line: BenQ AI Contrast, 4K panels, built-in speakers and a full ergonomic stand, running at 60Hz with a 5ms response. MOBIUZ is the gaming line: high refresh, low pixel response, FreeSync, Light Tuner and Colour Vibrance. The EW2790U is built for film, streaming and work — not for competitive play.
What does BenQ AI Contrast do?
It analyses the picture and adjusts contrast scene by scene rather than applying one fixed curve, so dark scenes retain shadow detail and bright scenes retain highlights. It is a feature of the current EW models and is not part of the MOBIUZ feature set.
Is there a DisplayPort input?

Is 27-inch 4K too dense to read comfortably?
At 163 PPI you will normally run display scaling rather than 100%. The benefit shows as sharper text and smoother images rather than more desktop space. If you want the extra area at the same resolution, the 31.5-inch EW3290U is 140 PPI.
Can I mount it in portrait?
