APC Replacement Battery Cartridge #140
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
APC Replacement Battery Cartridge #140 for Smart-UPS On-Line, 192V 5.1Ah Battery (APCRBC140) - 2 Years Local Warranty
Genuine APC Replacement Battery Cartridge #140
The APC Replacement Battery Cartridge #140 (APCRBC140) is Schneider Electric's own 192 V DC replacement cartridge for the larger Smart-UPS On-Line systems. It is supplied as two battery modules totalling 34.55 kg and 597 mm deep, rated at 5.1 Ah, with the connectors already fitted. This is a data-centre-class part: it is the battery inside a UPS that is holding up a comms room or a server rack, and it is exactly the component whose age nobody tracks until the day the room goes dark.
Why UPS Batteries Need Replacing in Singapore
Sealed lead-acid cells age faster in heat, and a comms cabinet or server room running warm will shorten a cartridge's working life well before its calendar age suggests. Schneider rates this cartridge for operation from 0 to 40 °C at up to 95% relative humidity, so a well-ventilated, air-conditioned rack is doing real work for your battery budget. The failure mode is the dangerous part: a UPS with a tired battery still shows a healthy front panel and still passes mains through, then drops the load the moment a PUB supply dip or a storm-season brownout actually arrives. If your unit has started reporting a battery fault, or has simply been in service for several years, replace the cartridge before you find out the hard way.
The Cartridge That Superseded the RBC44
Schneider's own support documentation is clear on one useful point: the APCRBC140 replaced the older RBC44, and where the RBC44 worked only in SURT units, the APCRBC140 can be used in both SRT and SURT systems. That makes it the current part for a mixed installed base of older SURT and newer SRT machines — one cartridge number to hold rather than two. Schneider's safety documentation describes it as the 192 V battery cartridge for Smart-UPS On-Line systems from 5 kVA to 20 kVA, while a separate support FAQ describes it as covering all SURT and SRT models of 3 kVA and larger. Those two statements do not quite agree on the lower bound, so match the cartridge to your unit's 192 V battery bus and send us the model number to confirm.
Local Singapore Stock, GST Invoice and Local Warranty
SourceIT holds APC replacement cartridges in Singapore, so a failed battery does not mean a multi-week import wait on a unit that is currently protecting nothing. Every order ships with a GST invoice for your accounts team and carries local Singapore warranty support, and we can quote the cartridge alongside the matching UPS, rack PDU or network management card on a single purchase order. We can also look at arranging collection of the exhausted cartridge for proper lead-acid recycling when the replacement is delivered — ask for that when you order.

Compatibility & Runtime
What Schneider states. Its support FAQ for this part reads: "All SURT/SRT models 3Kva or larger", and adds that "this RBC kit replaced the older RBC44. APCRBC140 can be used in SRT or SURT unit, RBC44 only work in SURT". Its safety documentation separately describes the APCRBC140 as the 192 V battery cartridge for Smart-UPS On-Line systems of 5 kVA to 20 kVA, naming SRT and SURT 5K to 10K units among others. The two statements differ on the lower bound, so treat 192 V — the battery bus voltage — as the deciding characteristic and confirm your model with us.
SourceIT Smart-UPS On-Line models on a 192 V battery bus. These are the units in our range that Schneider's safety documentation places in scope for this cartridge:
| SRT5KRMXLI | APC Smart-UPS SRT 5000VA RM 230V |
| SRT6KXLI | APC Smart-UPS SRT 6000VA 230V |
| SRT6KRMXLI | APC Smart-UPS SRT 6000VA RM 230V |
| SRT8KXLI | APC Smart-UPS SRT 8000VA 230V |
| SRT8KRMXLI | APC Smart-UPS SRT 8000VA RM 230V |
| SRT10KRMXLI | APC Smart-UPS SRT 10000VA RM 230V |
The matching external battery packs for these systems — SRT192BP, SRT192RMBP, SRT192BP2 and SRT192RMBP2 — run on the same 192 V bus. Schneider does not publish a cartridge part number against those pack records, so ask us before ordering a cartridge for a pack rather than for the UPS itself.
Electrical fit. Schneider rates this cartridge at 192 V DC, 5.1 Ah, supplied as two battery modules. The 34.55 kg net weight is consistent with a 192 V string, so the published voltage is the cartridge voltage and not a per-block figure. A UPS will only accept the cartridge built for it.
Runtime after replacement. A new cartridge restores the runtime the UPS was rated for when new; it does not add runtime beyond that. How long that actually is depends entirely on how heavily the UPS is loaded — a unit at a quarter load runs for considerably longer than the same unit near its rated output. Schneider does not publish runtime figures against the cartridge itself, only against the UPS, so if you need a runtime target for a specific rack load, send us the load in watts and the UPS model and we will size it properly rather than quote a number that will not hold.
Installation. The cartridge is supplied assembled with its connectors fitted. Schneider's own safety notice for this part describes the APCRBC140 as user serviceable and hot swappable; even so, follow the installation guide supplied in the box for the correct sequence on your model, and treat the modules as live throughout — this is a 192 V lead-acid assembly and a shorted terminal is a serious hazard. At 34.55 kg across the two modules, plan for a two-person lift. If you would rather not do it in-house, ask us and we will look at arranging it for you.
Package Contents & RBC Ordering Information

At 34.55 kg net across two modules this is a palletised or two-person delivery, not a parcel. Schneider also lists the part as non-stock in its own distribution, so ask us early if you have a planned maintenance window to hit.
Ordering notes. Quote the part number APCRBC140 on your purchase order — the cartridge number, not the UPS model, is what determines what ships. This cartridge is a lead-acid assembly and travels as such: net weights across the APC RBC range run from under 3 kg to over 30 kg, so check the physical specifications above before you arrange a courier. We can supply the cartridge on its own, or alongside a network management card, rack PDU or a replacement UPS on a single GST invoice.

Frequently Asked Questions — APC Replacement Battery Cartridge #140 (APCRBC140)
Which APC UPS models does the APCRBC140 fit?
Schneider's support FAQ states "all SURT/SRT models 3Kva or larger", while its safety documentation describes the part as the 192 V cartridge for Smart-UPS On-Line systems of 5 kVA to 20 kVA and names SRT and SURT 5K to 10K units. The reliable test is the battery bus voltage: this cartridge is 192 V. Send us the model number from your unit and we will confirm it in writing before anything ships.
Does the APCRBC140 replace the older RBC44?
Yes. Schneider states that this cartridge kit replaced the RBC44, and that where the RBC44 worked only in SURT units, the APCRBC140 can be used in either SRT or SURT systems. If you are maintaining a mixed installed base of older SURT and newer SRT machines, that means one cartridge number to stock rather than two.
Is my APCRBC140 affected by the Schneider safety notice?
Only a specific manufacturing window is. Schneider's product recall safety notice PRB-239058 covers cartridges manufactured between 6 May 2019 and 10 May 2020, identified by UPS serial date codes AS1919-AS2019, AQ1919-AQ2019 and 7S1919-7S2019, and battery module date codes 7A1919-7A2019 carrying labels BM13170, BR8376, BR8529, BM13756, BR8856 or MU1457. Schneider's stated hazard is that "battery issues caused by an internal battery nonconformance may affect the battery performance and, in a very low number of cases, result in localized overheating", and its stated remedy is that affected batteries need to be replaced and will be provided. The affected manufacturing window closed in May 2020, so this is an installed-base question rather than one about a cartridge bought new today — but if you are servicing an older system, read the date codes off the modules before you refit them. The notice is linked in the downloads section, and we are happy to check a date code for you.
How do I make sure I am ordering the right cartridge?
Read the model number off the label on the rear or side of the UPS and select against that, never against the part number of the battery already inside it and never against the VA rating alone. Schneider says the same thing on its APC UPS Replacement Battery Cartridge Selector Tool: two units of identical capacity in tower and rack form take different cartridges, and a SmartConnect or network-card build often differs from the standard build of the same model. Send us the model number and we will confirm the correct cartridge in writing before you order.
Can I fit the cartridge myself?
Schneider's own safety notice describes the APCRBC140 as user serviceable and hot swappable, so on a supported system the modules can be changed without dropping the load. In practice, follow the installation guide supplied in the box for the correct sequence on your model rather than assuming, treat the modules as live throughout — this is a 192 V lead-acid assembly — and plan for a two-person lift at 34.55 kg across the two modules. If the UPS is protecting something you would rather not gamble on, ask us about arranging the replacement.
How long should the cartridge last?
Schneider does not publish a service-life figure against this part number. Its general guidance for sealed lead-acid cartridges is three to five years, and on a Smart-UPS On-Line system the UPS itself will report battery health, so use that alongside age. In Singapore, the room temperature is the real variable: a comms room that runs warm will take years off a battery string that would otherwise reach the top of that range.
What do I do with the old cartridge?
Do not put it in general waste. A UPS cartridge is a sealed lead-acid assembly and is regulated waste in Singapore. Schneider supplies battery recycling information with the cartridge, and SourceIT can look at arranging collection of the exhausted pack for proper recycling when the replacement is delivered — tell us when you order so it can be scheduled with the delivery.
Is this a genuine APC part, and what does the warranty cover?
Yes. Every APC Replacement Battery Cartridge #140 (APCRBC140) sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice; APC backs the APCRBC140 with a 2-year manufacturer warranty, stated as 2 years repair or replace. Schneider publishes this term worldwide with no regional variation, so the Singapore figure is the same 2 years quoted elsewhere — unlike some APC UPS families, where the European figure is higher and does not apply to a Singapore supply.
