The APC RBC33 is a 24 V, 9.0 Ah sealed lead-acid replacement battery cartridge made up of two battery blocks, measuring 197 x 149 x 64 mm and weighing 5.33 kg net, 5.91 kg packaged. Schneider states both the voltage and the block count in its product data sheet, so neither figure has to be inferred.
It is the higher-capacity half of a closely-matched pair. The RBC32 sits in the same case at the same published weight with 7.0 Ah; the RBC33 carries 9.0 Ah, which is about a third more runtime at the same load.
The 24 V Correction, and a Trap Worth Knowing
Schneider’s own marketing copy for this cartridge reads “12V 9AH replaceable battery for APC Back-UPS”. Its data sheet, in the same breath, populates the battery-voltage field as 24 V and states two blocks. Both are true of different things: 12 V is what one block is rated at, 24 V is what the cartridge delivers.
That trap has propagated across the industry, and this listing carried it too. The physical figures moved as well — the real case is 197 x 149 x 64 mm, not the 151 x 65 x 100 mm previously shown, and the net weight is 5.33 kg. The UL and CE claims have been removed, because Schneider publishes neither for this part.
Documented Back-UPS RS and XS 1500 Fitment
APC publishes a battery cartridge replacement guide covering the RBC33 with the RBC32 and RBC47, written against the Back-UPS RS and XS range and naming the RS / XS 1500 and the RS 800 in its 230 V form. A 9 Ah, 24 V pack is the sensible fit for the larger units in that range, and a genuine 230 V host means this cartridge has real relevance on Singapore mains.
Those RS and XS 1500 units were common in small offices and studios, driving a workstation, a monitor and a switch. Where the electronics are still sound, a fresh cartridge is the whole repair.

Why capacity, not size, is the deciding difference
The RBC32 and the RBC33 share a case, a footprint and a published net weight, and differ only in capacity — 7.0 Ah against 9.0 Ah. You cannot tell them apart by measuring or by weighing them. The number printed on the pack is the only reliable identification. If you fit a 7.0 Ah cartridge where a 9.0 Ah one belongs, everything will appear to work — and the runtime will simply be shorter than the UPS reports, because the unit estimates against the capacity it expects to find.
Runtime and outlet planning
A 24 V 9 Ah pack stores roughly 216 Wh, and how long that lasts is entirely a question of load. On the Back-UPS RS and XS units only the battery-backed sockets draw on the cartridge; the surge-only sockets go dead the instant mains fails. Reviewing what is plugged into which side is often worth more runtime than any change of cartridge.
Hot-swap: not claimed
Schneider’s hot-swap statement applies to Smart-UPS models with user-replaceable batteries, and the Back-UPS family is outside it. Power the unit down and unplug it before opening the compartment, and follow the instruction sheet supplied with the cartridge.

A note on the published weight
Schneider gives the same 5.33 kg net weight for both the RBC32 and the RBC33 despite the difference in capacity, which is unexpected — a 9 Ah block is normally heavier than a 7 Ah one. The figure is reproduced as published rather than adjusted; the shipping weight of 5.91 kg is stated only for the RBC33.

Is the RBC33 12 V or 24 V?
24 V. Schneider’s data sheet populates the battery-voltage field as 24 V and states two blocks, while its marketing copy on the same product says 12 V 9 Ah. The marketing figure describes one block; the data sheet describes the cartridge, and the data sheet is what the UPS sees.
Can I use an RBC32 instead?
It will fit — the two cartridges share a case — and you will lose capacity. The RBC32 is 7.0 Ah against the RBC33’s 9.0 Ah, so runtime drops by roughly a quarter while the UPS continues to estimate against the capacity it expects. Fit the number that is printed on the pack you removed.
Which UPS models take it?
APC’s replacement guide covers the Back-UPS RS and XS range, naming the RS / XS 1500 and the 230 V RS 800, for the RBC32, RBC33 and RBC47 together. It does not split cartridge to model, so the number on your existing pack is the final check.
Is there a 230 V host for this cartridge?
