The APC RBC4 is the higher-capacity member of a small family of single-block sealed lead-acid cartridges. Schneider Electric publishes it as 12 V, 12 Ah, one battery block, 3.68 kg net, supplied assembled with the leads and terminals already dressed for the battery bay. Fitting one returns a tired UPS to the runtime it was specified for.
Twelve amp-hours in a single 12 V block is a lot of capacity for a compact cartridge, and it is what distinguishes the RBC4 from its near neighbours. Physically it is almost indistinguishable from the 10 Ah RBC3 — 3 mm shorter, identical width and depth, identical published net weight — so the part number, not the shape, is what tells you which one you are holding.
RBC4 Specifications: Three Corrections Against the Schneider Data Sheet
The figures on this page were rebuilt from Schneider’s product data sheet, and three of them moved. Capacity is 12 Ah, not 9 Ah. The cartridge measures 99 x 94 x 150 mm, where the previous listing gave a 65 mm width — a third narrower than the real part. Net weight is 3.68 kg, not 5.5 kg.
The one figure that was already right is the nominal voltage: 12 V, confirmed by the populated battery-voltage field in Schneider’s data sheet and consistent with a single-block build. The UL and CE claims have been removed, because Schneider publishes neither for this cartridge.

On Singapore’s 230 V, 50 Hz supply the failure mode a small UPS most often earns its keep against is not a long blackout but a brief dip or a momentary interruption — long enough to reboot a NAS, drop a VoIP handset registration or corrupt a file that was mid-write. A cartridge with capacity left in it rides those through without the user noticing.
The tell that a cartridge is finished is usually a runtime that has quietly collapsed: a unit that used to hold for fifteen minutes now managing two. If a self-test has started failing or the battery indicator has come on, the cells are past it, and no amount of recharging brings them back.

Compatibility & Runtime
Which UPS does the RBC4 fit?
Schneider does not publish a host list for the RBC4, so this section reports what can and cannot be established. Five separate distributors in different markets converge on the APC Smart-UPS SC 620 and SC620I — and the “I” suffix means the 230 V international build, which is the one sold on Singapore mains. That convergence is worth something, but none of those five is a Schneider document, so it is published as a strong indication rather than a confirmation.
An explicit negative, and it is a confirmed one
At least one cross-reference site lists the RBC4 as fitting the SU700NET. It does not. Schneider’s own FAQ FA156525 states that the SU700NET takes the RBC5 instead. Where a Schneider document and a cross-reference table disagree, the document wins, and that particular table has been wrong on several other cartridges in this range too.
Confirming before you order
The number printed on the cartridge currently in the UPS is the definitive answer. Failing that, Schneider publishes the UPS to RBC cross reference list, or send us the UPS model and serial number and we will check it for you.
Runtime, and whether it can be changed live
A new cartridge restores the design runtime rather than adding to it, and how long that runtime actually is depends entirely on the connected load. On the hot-swap question this page makes no claim: Schneider’s hot-swap statement is scoped to Smart-UPS models with user-replaceable batteries, and because the RBC4’s host family is not confirmed by a Schneider document, there is nothing solid to hang that claim on. Power the unit down and unplug it before opening the battery bay.

A note on the published weight
Schneider’s data sheets give the RBC3 and the RBC4 the same 3.68 kg net weight even though they carry different capacities. Their packaged weights do differ — 4.32 kg against 4.00 kg — so the two records are not simply duplicated, but the identical net figure is reproduced here as printed rather than adjusted.

Frequently Asked Questions — APC RBC4
What is the difference between the RBC3 and the RBC4?
Capacity, and almost nothing else you can see. Both are 12 V single-block cartridges on the same 94 x 150 mm footprint; the RBC3 is 10 Ah and 102 mm tall, the RBC4 is 12 Ah and 99 mm tall. Order by the number on the pack, not by measuring the old one.
Does the RBC4 fit an SU700NET?
No. Schneider’s FAQ FA156525 names the RBC5 as the SU700NET’s cartridge. A widely-copied cross-reference table says otherwise and is wrong; the same table also gives figures for other cartridges in this range that are physically impossible.
Will it work on a 230 V UPS in Singapore?
The cartridge itself is a DC part and knows nothing about mains voltage — what matters is whether your UPS is one that takes an RBC4. The most consistently reported host, the Smart-UPS SC620I, is the 230 V international build, so there is a genuine Singapore-mains fit here. We would still confirm against your unit’s label before you order.
Why does this page not list a GTIN?
Because no Schneider source publishes one that we could verify, and the number previously shown on this listing appeared on two other unrelated cartridge listings in the same catalogue. An unverified barcode is worse than none, so it has been left out.
Is 12 Ah in one block unusual?
It is at the upper end for a single-block cartridge, yes. Most cartridges reach higher capacity by stacking two or more 7 to 9 Ah blocks; the RBC4 puts it in one cell instead, which is why it is compact for its rating.
Can I change it without powering down?
Treat it as a powered-down job. Schneider’s hot-swap statement covers Smart-UPS units with user-replaceable batteries, and because no Schneider document confirms the RBC4’s host family, there is no basis to extend that statement to this cartridge.
Does it come with a local Singapore warranty?
