The APCRBC151 is APC's factory replacement battery tray for the Smart-UPS C 3000 VA 2U rackmount, the SMC3000RMI2U. Schneider Electric's product data sheet for that UPS names APCRBC151 as its replacement battery, quantity one, and the APC Smart-UPS C brochure carries the same pairing. This is the rackmount part specifically — the tower SMC3000I of the same VA rating takes a different cartridge.
Rack Power in a Singapore Comms Cabinet
Singapore runs a 230 V / 50 Hz supply that is among the most reliable in the region, but the PUB grid still sees voltage dips during the monsoon storm season, and year-round humidity of 80% and above is hard on sealed lead-acid chemistry. A UPS battery in a Singapore comms cabinet or server room commonly reaches the end of its useful life sooner than the same battery would in a temperate climate, which is why a scheduled cartridge replacement matters more here than the calendar alone suggests.
Smart-UPS C units are the workhorse of the Singapore SME server cupboard and the small comms room — enough capacity for a couple of hosts, a switch stack and a firewall, with automatic voltage regulation that rides out the shallow dips a Singapore feeder sees without touching the battery at all. The cartridge is the one consumable in the unit, and it is the part that decides whether the UPS is still doing its job five years in.
In 2U of rack space the SMC3000RMI2U carries 2100 W, which in practice is a switch stack, a firewall and one or two hosts. Because the unit is rack-mounted it usually sits in warmer air than a floor-standing tower, and that is worth remembering when you plan the replacement interval.
Rackmount and Tower Are Not Interchangeable
The most common ordering error on this part is assuming that a 3000 VA Smart-UPS C takes a 3000 VA cartridge regardless of form factor. It does not. The rackmount SMC3000RMI2U takes the APCRBC151; the tower SMC3000I takes the APCRBC150. Schneider's data sheets for the two units name different parts, and the trays are not the same.

- SMC3000RMI2U — APC Smart-UPS C 3000 VA rackmount LCD 230 V, 2U. Named as the replacement battery in Schneider Electric's product data sheet for that UPS, quantity 1, and confirmed independently in the APC Smart-UPS C brochure.
Not the tower. The 3000 VA tower SMC3000I takes APCRBC150, a different tray. Same VA rating, different chassis, different cartridge.
Why no nominal voltage is shown. Schneider markets this cartridge with a "12V" figure. That cannot be the cartridge rating: this is the replacement tray for a 2 kVA-class or 3 kVA-class line-interactive UPS, a single 12 V block could not run that inverter, and the published net weight of about 10 kg is roughly four blocks rather than one. The 12 V figure is the rating of one block inside the tray. Four blocks would make 48 V, but no Schneider document states a cartridge-level voltage for this part, so we publish neither the misleading figure nor our own arithmetic. Order by part number and the cartridge is correct.
About the physical figures on this page. Schneider Electric publishes the same net weight of 10.0 kg, the same 83 x 216 x 343 mm tray and the same carton for APCRBC148, APCRBC150 and APCRBC151, while publishing different capacities for them. Three cartridges of different capacity cannot all weigh the same, so at least one of those records is a copy of another. Only the APCRBC150 figures are confirmed by a Schneider product data sheet. We publish the numbers for what they are worth as a planning guide — expect a package in the region of 10 kg — and we would rather tell you the record is shaky than present it as precise. If you need a certified weight for freight or for a tender, ask us and we will obtain it from the distributor.
One more data-quality note. Schneider's own product page for the APCRBC151 attaches a catalogue document that turns out to be the Smart-UPS On-Line SRT 1-10 kVA brochure for 120 V and 208 V models — the wrong product family and the wrong voltage market for a 230 V Smart-UPS C cartridge. We have not republished it. If you have downloaded that file from Schneider expecting APCRBC151 information, that is why it did not match.
Can I change it myself? The APCRBC151 ships fully assembled with its connectors fitted, so the physical exchange is a slide-out, slide-in operation and no tools are needed. Schneider Electric does not publish a statement for this part about whether it may be changed while the equipment is energised, so we do not make that claim. The installation guide packed in the box is the authority on whether the unit must be shut down first — read it before you start, and if you would rather not do it yourself we can arrange for it to be done.

A word on weight. APC replacement battery cartridges range from about 2.5 kg for a single-block Back-UPS part to over 30 kg for a large Smart-UPS On-Line tray. The net weight in the specification table above is the figure to use when you plan handling, lift assistance and courier booking. A great many published weights for these parts, in reseller catalogues and in APC's own syndicated feed data, are badly out and usually far too low. Treat a weight you find elsewhere with suspicion, and if you need a certified figure for freight or for a lifting assessment, ask us.

I have a 3000 VA Smart-UPS C. Is this the right cartridge?
Only if it is the rackmount. The 2U SMC3000RMI2U takes the APCRBC151; the tower SMC3000I takes APCRBC150. Same VA rating, different chassis, different tray. Read the model number off the front of the unit or the label on the cartridge you are removing before ordering.
How do I know this is the right cartridge for my UPS?
Match the part number, not the shape. Several APC cartridges share an identical tray and identical external dimensions while carrying different cells, different voltages and different retention hardware, so measuring the old one tells you very little. Open the UPS battery compartment and read the label on the cartridge you are removing, or check your UPS model's documentation for the APC replacement battery part number it names. If the part number on your old cartridge reads APCRBC151, this is the one. If you are unsure, send us your UPS model and serial number and we will confirm it in writing before you order.
Why does this page not state a voltage or a capacity?
Schneider markets this part as "12V 5.1AH", but a single 12 V block could not run a 2100 W inverter and the published tray weighs about 10 kg, which is roughly four blocks. The marketed figures are per-block. Schneider does not publish a cartridge-level voltage or capacity for this part, so we leave both rows blank rather than print something misleading.
How reliable are the weight and dimensions shown?
Treat them as a planning guide. Schneider publishes the same 10.0 kg net weight and the same tray dimensions for APCRBC148, APCRBC150 and APCRBC151 despite publishing different capacities for them, which means at least one of those records has been copied from another. Only the APCRBC150 figures are backed by a product data sheet. If you need a certified weight for freight or a tender, ask us and we will get it from the distributor.
How long will the new cartridge last?
APC does not publish a service-life figure for every cartridge, and where it does the figure is a range rather than a promise, because sealed lead-acid life is driven by ambient temperature and by how often the battery is actually discharged. As a working rule for Singapore, a cartridge in an air-conditioned server room will outlast one in a warm riser or an unconditioned comms cabinet, and every sustained rise in operating temperature shortens the life meaningfully. Plan a replacement cycle rather than waiting for the UPS to report a failed battery during an outage.
Does the rackmount need to come out of the rack to change the battery?
On the Smart-UPS C 2U the battery compartment is reached from the front, so in most installations the unit stays racked. Check the installation guide linked above against your own cable dressing and rail arrangement — a tray of this size needs room to come straight out.
What do I do with the old cartridge?
Sealed lead-acid batteries must not go into general waste in Singapore. The cartridge is recyclable through the licensed waste-handling channels, and the box your replacement arrives in is designed to take the exhausted unit back out. Tell us when you order and we can arrange collection of the old cartridge with the delivery of the new one.
Does it come with a Singapore warranty and a GST invoice?
