PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TP-Link 4G LTE Mobile Wi-Fi (M7200) - 3 Years Local Warranty

The M7200 is TP-Link's pocket 4G LTE hotspot for buyers who want one thing done simply: insert a Micro SIM, press the power button, and share a private 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network with up to 10 devices at once. A 2000mAh battery runs it away from mains power, and at 94 mm long it is small enough to live permanently in a laptop bag.

150 Mbps Down on 4G - Not the Same Number as the Wi-Fi Rate

TP-Link rates the M7200's mobile data at DL: 150Mbps, UL: 50Mbps. That is the ceiling on the 4G link between the hotspot and your carrier, and it is the figure that governs how fast the internet actually feels. The separate 300Mbps figure is the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi speed between the M7200 and your own phones and laptops: it is a local link rate and it does not make the mobile connection any faster. Real 4G throughput depends on your carrier, the band in use and how busy that cell is at the time.

Micro SIM, with an Adapter Described as Supplied

SIM size is the detail that causes most avoidable returns on mobile hotspots, so plainly: TP-Link's own wording for the M7200 is Micro SIM card slots with SIM card adapter inside. The tray takes a Micro SIM. Sizes differ across the M7 series, so do not assume this one from another model you have owned. If your carrier issues a Nano SIM you will need to seat it in an adapter to fill the Micro SIM footprint; if you are handed a full-size card it will need swapping for a Micro. Confirm the tray before you cut anything.

FDD and TDD LTE Bands, with 3G Fallback

The M7200 supports 4G FDD-LTE B1/B3/B7/B8/B20 (2100/1800/2600/900/800MHz) and TDD-LTE B38/B40/B41 (2600/2300/2500MHz), and falls back to 3G DC-HSPA+/HSPA+/HSPA/UMTS on B1/B8 (2100/900MHz) where LTE is not available. Both duplex modes are covered rather than FDD alone, which is worth knowing if you plan to travel with the unit or move it between carriers. Check these published bands against the bands your own data SIM or roaming SIM actually uses before you commit to the purchase.

N300 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, MAC Filtering and DHCP

Wireless is IEEE 802.11b/g/n at up to 300Mbps on 2.4GHz, with transmission power rated at 2.4G <20dbm. There is no 5 GHz radio on this model. TP-Link publishes WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK support together with wireless MAC filtering, and the M7200 runs a DHCP server with a DHCP client list so you can see what is attached. Up to 10 devices can share the connection simultaneously, which is the number to plan around for a meeting room, a roadshow counter or a small site team rather than a full office.

2000 mAh Battery, Up to 8 Hours

TP-Link specifies an internal 2000mAh rechargeable battery and states that the M7200 can provide up to 8 hours of wireless connectivity, adding that battery life may vary in accordance with environmental conditions. Charging is over the single micro USB port, which TP-Link publishes for power supply, and a 2000mAh battery ships in the box along with a micro USB cable. Charge from any USB source you already own; a micro USB cable is in the box. There is one button on the unit: Power On/Off. Three LEDs report Wi-Fi, internet connection and battery status.

Ideal For

Singapore buyers who want an inexpensive, dependable second connection: field staff and site supervisors, market stalls and roadshow counters, students and travellers on a local data SIM, and offices keeping a hotspot in the drawer for the day the fibre goes down. Anyone whose carrier issues a Micro SIM, or a Nano SIM they are willing to run in an adapter, is well served. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice.

Frequently Asked Questions — M7200

What size SIM card does the M7200 take?

A Micro SIM. TP-Link's wording for the M7200 is Micro SIM card slots with SIM card adapter inside, so an adapter is described as being supplied with the unit, although it is not itemised in the published package contents. A Nano SIM will need an adapter to fill the Micro footprint. Check the tray on the unit you receive before cutting or forcing a card.

Is the M7200 a 150 Mbps device or a 300 Mbps device?

Both numbers are published and they describe different links. 150Mbps down and 50Mbps up is the mobile 4G data rate to your carrier. 300Mbps is the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi rate between the M7200 and your own devices. Your internet speed is governed by the 4G figure and by your carrier's network, not by the Wi-Fi number.

How long does the battery last, and how many devices can connect?

TP-Link states up to 8 hours of wireless connectivity from the internal 2000mAh battery, and notes that battery life may vary in accordance with environmental conditions. Up to 10 devices can be connected simultaneously.

Does it have 5 GHz Wi-Fi?

No. The M7200 is 2.4 GHz only, at up to 300Mbps. If you need dual-band Wi-Fi from a mobile hotspot, ask us and we will point you at a current model that publishes it.

Is a SIM card included?

No. Supply your own Micro SIM data plan from a Singapore carrier, or a roaming SIM whose bands match the network types listed in the specifications.

What warranty does SourceIT provide?

3 Years Local Warranty (Singapore); internal battery 6 months. TP-Link limits all internal batteries and battery packs to a six-month replacement warranty. Every M7200 sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.

Can SourceIT quote this in volume?

Yes. Send us the quantity and we will quote, including for fleets of site or event units, and confirm current lead time before you commit to a date.
