Samsung supports both landscape and portrait installation, and the even 13.9 mm bezel means a rotated screen keeps the same border on all four sides — useful for lift-lobby directories, queue displays and tall atrium columns. Three HDMI 2.0 inputs and one DisplayPort 1.2 input cover notebooks, room PCs, video conferencing codecs, Blu-ray and camera feeds; two USB ports take a thumb drive for local playback or a firmware update. What is the difference between the QMC series and the QBC series?
Duty rating and brightness. The QM85C and the rest of the QMC line are rated for 24/7 continuous operation at 500 nit. The QBC series is rated for 16/7 at 350 nit. If the screen is switched off overnight and sits away from direct daylight, QBC is usually enough; if it runs around the clock, or faces a glazed shopfront or a bright atrium, the QMC specification is the one to quote.
Does the QM85C need an external media player?
No, not for standard signage. Tizen 7.0 and 16 GB of onboard storage run scheduled playlists on the display itself, and Samsung VXT or MagicINFO manage that content over the network. An external player is only worth adding when the content source is something the panel cannot run natively, such as a specialist third-party application or a live production feed.
Can the QM85C be mounted in portrait?
Yes. Samsung supports landscape and portrait installation, and the 13.9 mm bezel is even on all four sides, so a rotated screen keeps the same border all round.
