Compact Network Scanner with a 4.3-inch Touch Screen
The Ricoh fi-8040 is a compact A4 duplex scanner from the fi-8000 series. It scans at 40 pages per minute simplex and 80 images per minute duplex (A4, 200/300 dpi), holds 50 sheets in the ADF and is rated by Ricoh for an expected daily volume of 6,000 sheets. A 4.3-inch colour touch screen puts job selection and previews at the scanner.
DirectScan: Scan Without a PC
With DirectScan, the fi-8040 can attach scans to email directly or save them to network folders set up in advance, with no PC needed. PaperStream NX Manager links scanned data to business software applications.
Fits at the Front Desk
At 292 x 157 x 143 mm and 3.1 kg, the fi-8040 fits beside a counter or workstation. It handles paper from 40 to 209 g/m², plastic cards up to 0.76 mm and long pages up to 5,588 mm, with ultrasonic overlap and length detection to catch multifeeds.
USB and Gigabit Ethernet Built In
Connect by USB 3.2 Gen1 or over the built-in 10/100/1000BASE-T Ethernet port. PaperStream IP (TWAIN/ISIS) and WIA drivers are supported, and PaperStream Capture and PaperStream ClickScan are supplied for scanning workflows.

Compatibility & Software Support
Supported Operating Systems
Windows 11, Windows 10, Windows Server 2025 / 2022 / 2019 / 2016, macOS and Linux (Ubuntu), per Ricoh's fi-8040 datasheet. Ricoh notes that functions equivalent to PaperStream IP may not be available with the macOS / Linux image scanner drivers or the WIA driver, and that fi Series scanners do not run on Windows ARM-based PCs.
