The ThinkVision E55 is a 54.6" 4K UHD large-format display for meeting rooms, classrooms and digital signage. Its headline feature is not the panel — it is the connectivity: a single USB-C cable carries video over DisplayPort 1.4 Alt Mode, up to 96 W of charging back to a laptop, gigabit Ethernet and four USB-A ports. One cable turns the room's display into the room's dock.
Read This Before You Order: It Is Not a Touchscreen
The ThinkVision E55 is a non-touch commercial display. Lenovo's specification contains no touch technology and no touch-point count, there is no built-in Android system, and there is no Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. If your room needs an interactive whiteboard, the interactive product in this family is the ThinkVision T65 — a different model with its own documentation, linked in the ordering table below.
A VA Panel at 5000:1 — and the Correction That Goes With It
Lenovo specifies a Vertical Alignment (VA) panel here with a 5000:1 contrast ratio, 400 cd/m² brightness, 178° viewing angles and a 28% anti-glare haze. Our previous listing for this display described the panel as In-Plane Switching. That was wrong against Lenovo's own specification sheet and we have corrected it — a 5000:1 static contrast is a VA characteristic, not an IPS one.
Built to Sit in a Room, Not on a Desk
ENERGY STAR certified and EPEAT Silver registered, with a Core & Tiny cage in the box so a Lenovo Tiny or Core compute module mounts behind the panel and disappears. Picture-by-Picture and a built-in KVM switch let two sources share the screen and one keyboard. VESA 300 x 300 mm, with 0.1° to 5° of tilt on the supplied bracket.

Compatibility & Fit
The single-cable question. The upstream USB-C port carries DisplayPort 1.4 Alt Mode at HBR3 and delivers up to 96 W back to the connected machine, plus gigabit Ethernet and the four downstream USB-A ports. For a modern ThinkPad, ThinkBook or MacBook that is genuinely one cable for picture, power, network and peripherals. Check your laptop's own charging requirement against 96 W before you rely on it — a mobile workstation drawing 135 W or 170 W will still need its own adapter.
The second USB-C port is not a video port. Lenovo specifies it as USB 5Gbps, 15 W, data transfer only. Plugging a laptop into it will charge slowly and display nothing. Label the ports at installation if the room has non-technical users.
What drives the display. There is no built-in Android system, no Wi-Fi and no Bluetooth. Something has to be connected: a room PC over HDMI or DisplayPort, a laptop over USB-C, or a Lenovo Tiny or Core module fitted into the Core & Tiny cage supplied in the box, which mounts behind the panel and keeps the installation clean. The Tiny or Core module is a separate purchase — ask us to quote one alongside the display.
Camera and microphone are not included. Lenovo states "no camera" and "no microphone" for this display, and lists the MC80L Gen2 webcam as a separate accessory. For a room that needs to run Teams or Zoom, budget for a camera and a speakerphone or soundbar — the built-in 10 W x 2 speakers will carry audio playback but are not a conferencing solution on their own. We can quote the full room.
Mounting. VESA 300 x 300 mm, with a wall mount bracket, expansion tubes, screws, screwdriver, cable clips and washers in the box, and 0.1° to 5° of tilt available. At 17.9 kg (39.5 lb) this needs a structural wall or a rated trolley.

One caveat on the box list. Frequently Asked Questions — Lenovo ThinkVision E55
Is this display a touchscreen?
No. Lenovo's specification for the ThinkVision E55 contains no touch technology and no touch-point count — the words do not appear. It is a non-touch commercial display driven by a connected PC. The interactive display in this ThinkVision family is the T65, which is a separate model with 20-point infrared touch and its own PSREF document.
Is the panel IPS or VA?
VA, per Lenovo's PSREF specification sheet. Our earlier listing for this product said In-Plane Switching; that was incorrect and has been corrected here. The 5000:1 static contrast Lenovo publishes is characteristic of a VA panel — an IPS panel of this class typically sits around 1000:1 to 1200:1.
How much power will it deliver to my laptop over USB-C?
Up to 96 W on the upstream USB-C port, using USB Power Delivery 3.1, alongside DisplayPort 1.4 Alt Mode video. The second USB-C port delivers 15 W and carries data only, with no video.
Does it have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or a built-in Android system?
No to all three — Lenovo publishes none of them for this model. If you need a display that works standalone without a PC attached, look at the interactive T-series in this family instead.
Can I run a Lenovo Tiny behind it?
Yes. A Core & Tiny cage is supplied in the box for exactly that, so a Lenovo ThinkCentre Tiny or Core module mounts behind the panel out of sight. The compute module itself is a separate purchase — tell us what the room needs to run and we will size it.
What is the response time — 8 ms or 6.5 ms?
Lenovo's own two publications of the same PSREF document disagree: the PDF says 8 ms and the HTML rendering says 6.5 ms. We show both rather than picking one. For meeting-room and signage use the difference is immaterial; if it matters to your application, ask us and we will get it confirmed.
What warranty applies in Singapore?
Lenovo PSREF states a 3-year limited warranty as the base warranty for this model, and every unit SourceIT sells carries local Singapore warranty support with a GST invoice. For a wall-mounted display, ask us about onsite service before you order.
