Why a TN Panel Here

ASUS uses a TN panel on the VT168HR to hit a lower price point than the IPS-based VT169HE and VT229H in the same touch range. The trade-off is narrower viewing angles (90°/60° versus 170–178° on the IPS models) and lower contrast — acceptable for a fixed, straight-on kiosk or till screen, but not ideal where the panel will be viewed from the side by more than one person at a time.
