DisplayPort 1.2 delivers the full 120Hz refresh rate; HDMI 1.4 also supports 120Hz at Full HD resolution. VGA (D-Sub) is retained for older desktop towers and meeting-room PCs still in service, useful when refreshing an office fleet gradually.

No Height-Adjustable Stand

Setting the Refresh Rate

Windows and most graphics drivers default a newly connected monitor to 60Hz. To get the full 120Hz, open display settings after connecting and manually select 120Hz — this is a one-time setting per input/GPU combination, not something that needs repeating.

Adaptive-Sync in Practice

Adaptive-Sync keeps the refresh rate matched to the GPU's frame output in real time, removing screen tearing. It works with AMD FreeSync-compatible GPUs directly and with many NVIDIA GPUs through G-SYNC Compatible mode enabled in the NVIDIA Control Panel.

VESA Mounting

The 100 x 100 mm VESA pattern accepts a standard monitor arm or wall mount, adding the height, swivel and pivot adjustment the bundled stand does not provide.

Built-In Speakers for Everyday Audio

The built-in 2W x 2 stereo speakers cover system sounds, notification chimes and casual video or call audio without needing a separate speaker set on the desk — useful at a simple single-monitor workstation where a full audio setup is not otherwise required.

Kensington Lock for Shared or Public-Facing Desks

A Kensington lock slot is fitted on the rear of the chassis, letting the monitor be physically secured to a desk — worth using in an open-plan office, training room or any space where equipment security is a consideration.

ASUS DisplayWidget Center

ASUS DisplayWidget Center software runs from Windows and gives on-screen control over brightness, colour presets and other settings without touching the monitor's physical buttons — useful once several ASUS monitors are deployed and each one's on-screen menu would otherwise need to be adjusted individually.

Fitting a Compact Single or Dual-Monitor Desk

At approximately 3.03 kg and with a smaller footprint than the full-ergonomic VA249QGS, the VA249QG suits a compact single-monitor desk or a dual-monitor setup where a lighter, simpler stand is preferred over a heavier fully articulating one — particularly where the monitor arm or desk clamp being used is rated for a lower weight, or where desk space genuinely does not allow for a bulkier stand footprint.

What is the difference between the VA249QG and the VA249QGS?

Both are 23.8-inch IPS panels at up to 120Hz with 1ms MPRT and near-identical display specifications. The VA249QGS adds a full ergonomic stand (swivel, pivot, height adjustment) and a 4-port USB hub with upstream connection; the VA249QG uses a simpler tilt-only stand and no USB hub, at a lower price point. Choose the QG if you do not need the extra ergonomic range or USB hub.
