The APC SRT192RMBP2 is the 3U rackmount external battery pack (XLBP) for the largest units in the Smart-UPS SRT range. Schneider's installation guide 990-4811F-002 lists it against the SRT8KXLx, SRT8KRMXLx, SRT10KXLx and SRT10KRMXLx families, which share the ±192 V split battery architecture, the white battery connector and the APCRBC140 internal cartridge. At 8–10 kW the UPS is protecting a full production rack, and a battery pack is what turns a ride-through into real autonomy while a generator starts.
3U of Rack Space, Rail Kit and Brackets Included
The SRT192RMBP2 ships with the rail kit, a pair of rack-mount brackets, eight flat head screws, four ornamental screws and two cage nuts, so it drops straight into a 19-inch cabinet below the UPS. It is also two-post mountable. The chassis is 130 mm (H) x 432 mm (W) x 682.7 mm (D). At 91 kg the pack is heavier than most 2U servers by an order of magnitude — mount it at the very bottom of the cabinet, check the rack's static load rating before stacking several, and arrange proper handling before delivery day.
Up to Ten Packs on One UPS
Schneider states that the UPS will recognise as many as ten external battery packs connected to it, so runtime scales with rack space and budget. Recharge time increases with every pack added — worth planning for if your site sees repeated dips in a single afternoon, which is not unusual during the Singapore monsoon. Unlike the smaller 192 V pack, the BATT COMM battery communication cable is supplied with the 8 kVA and 10 kVA packs.
Keyed Connector — Order by Part Number, Not by Voltage
Schneider is explicit that each external battery pack has a keyed mating connector compatible only with its corresponding UPS, and APC does not support third-party packs. The SRT192RMBP2 will not connect to a 5 kVA or 6 kVA SRT — those take the SRT192BP or SRT192RMBP — and certainly not to a 3 kVA unit on the 96 V bus. Schneider documents the compatibility as wildcard families (the “x” covers the regional build suffixes; the J-series variants take the SRT192RMBP2J pack instead) rather than as an exhaustive list of individual part numbers. If your UPS part number is not in one of the families above, send it to SourceIT and we will confirm against Schneider's table rather than guess.
Keyed connectors — packs are not interchangeable. Schneider states in FAQ FA349747 that “each external battery pack has a keyed mating connector that is only compatible with its corresponding UPS”. A 96 V pack will not physically connect to a 192 V UPS, and APC does not support third-party packs. Order strictly by the compatibility list above.
