The APC SRT192BP is the 192 V DC stand-alone external battery pack (XLBP) for the Smart-UPS SRT 5 kVA and 6 kVA on-line range. Schneider's installation guide 990-4811F-002 lists it against the SRT5KXLx, SRT5KRMXLx, SRT6KXLx and SRT6KRMXLx families, which share the 192 V bus, the white battery connector and the APCRBC140 internal cartridge. Adding a pack is how you turn a UPS sized to ride through a Singapore grid dip into one that will carry a populated rack through a longer PUB interruption or hold it up while a generator starts.
Four Sealed VRLA Modules on a 192 V Bus
Each SRT192BP contains four battery modules at 96 VDC each, rated 5 Ah per module, giving the 192 VDC total the 5 kVA and 6 kVA units expect. The batteries are sealed, maintenance-free, valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA). Schneider states the UPS will recognise as many as ten external battery packs connected to it, so runtime scales in a straight line with budget and floor space — recharge time increases with every pack added, which is worth planning for if your site sees repeated dips in a single afternoon.
Plan for the Weight Before Delivery Day
This is a serious piece of hardware: 91 kg net with batteries installed, 102 kg packaged, in a 130 mm (H) x 432 mm (W) x 682.7 mm (D) stand-alone battery stack. Confirm the delivery route, the lift and the floor loading before the pack arrives — retrofitting a battery pack into an occupied Singapore comms room is a great deal easier when the handling has been thought through in advance. The rack-mount equivalent for a cabinet installation is the SRT192RMBP.
Keyed Connector — Order by Part Number, Not by Voltage
Schneider is explicit that each external battery pack has a keyed mating connector compatible only with its corresponding UPS, and APC does not support third-party packs. The SRT192BP will not connect to a 3 kVA SRT (96 V) or to an 8 kVA or 10 kVA SRT (which uses the ±192 V SRT192BP2). Check your UPS part number against the compatibility list below before ordering. Schneider documents the compatibility as wildcard families (the “x” covers the regional build suffixes; the J-series variants take the SRT192BPJ pack instead) rather than as an exhaustive list of individual part numbers. Keyed connectors — packs are not interchangeable. Schneider states in FAQ FA349747 that “each external battery pack has a keyed mating connector that is only compatible with its corresponding UPS”. A 96 V pack will not physically connect to a 192 V UPS, and APC does not support third-party packs. Order strictly by the compatibility list above.
How many packs can I connect? Schneider states that the UPS will recognise as many as ten external battery packs connected to it. Recharge time increases with each pack added. At 91 kg per pack, the practical limit in most Singapore comms rooms is set by floor loading and handling long before it is set by the electronics.
Tower or rack? The SRT192BP is the stand-alone battery stack — the tower build — and no rail kit applies. For a cabinet installation, the rackmount SRT192RMBP is the equivalent pack for the same 5 kVA and 6 kVA UPS models. Do not confuse either with the SRT192BP2 or SRT192RMBP2, which are the ±192 V packs for the 8 kVA and 10 kVA units.
Runtime. Runtime is not linear — halving the load more than doubles the time on battery. Schneider does not publish a runtime table for the SRT192BP that we are able to cite, so rather than quote a figure we cannot source, ask SourceIT for a runtime calculation against your measured load and pack count.
Cables. Note that the BATT COMM (battery communication) cable is included with the 8 kVA and 10 kVA packs, not with the SRT192BP. What the SRT192BP box does include is listed in the Package Contents section below.

In the box (Schneider package contents): front bezel, ground cable with two pan head screws, two tie brackets with four flat head screws, one pan head screw for the XLBP battery cable connector, user documentation CD, installation guide and warranty card.
