PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

APC Replacement Battery Cartridge #30 (RBC30) - 2 Years Local Warranty

APC RBC30 Replacement Battery Cartridge — 12 V 5.1 Ah Back-UPS Cell

The APC RBC30 is a compact single-block sealed lead-acid replacement battery cartridge for the APC Back-UPS range. Schneider publishes it as 12 V, 5.1 Ah with a lifecycle carbon footprint of 14 kg CO2 equivalent — a figure that only makes sense for a small single-cell part, and one that corroborates the rating.

It is a modest component with a specific job: returning a small desktop or under-desk UPS to its designed runtime once the original cells have aged out. Doing that costs a fraction of replacing the UPS, and the electronics in these units usually long outlast their first battery.

What This Page Publishes, and What It Deliberately Does Not

The RBC30 is the least-documented part in this batch, and rather than pad the page out with plausible numbers, this listing says exactly where each figure comes from. The 12 V and 5.1 Ah ratings and the 14 kg carbon footprint are Schneider’s own, taken from its product page. The dimensions and weights are authorised distributor figures, labelled as such in the table, because no Schneider data sheet for this part could be located on any host we are able to read.

Three corrections against the previous version of this listing are worth stating. Capacity is 5.1 Ah, not 9 Ah. Net weight is around 2 kg, not 7.0 kg. And the UL and CE claims have gone, because Schneider publishes neither for this cartridge. A widely-repeated reseller figure of 5.5 Ah also circulates; Schneider’s own page says 5.1 Ah, and that is what is published here.

Keeping a Small UPS Useful in a Singapore Home or Shop

A desktop UPS earns its cost in the moment a storm drops the supply for two seconds and everything on the bench reboots. That is the common Singapore failure mode — brief, unannounced, and enough to interrupt a point-of-sale terminal mid-transaction or a workstation mid-save.

The battery is the only part of the unit that wears out on a schedule. When self-tests start failing or runtime collapses, replacing the cartridge restores the protection; leaving it means owning a surge filter that no longer rides through anything.

Local Stock, GST Invoice, Two-Year Warranty

SourceIT holds the RBC30 as genuine APC stock in Singapore, invoiced with GST and covered by Schneider’s two-year repair-or-replace cartridge warranty, stated worldwide with no regional split.

Because Schneider names no host models for this part, we would rather check than guess. Send us the model and serial number from the label on your UPS, or the number printed on the cartridge you are taking out, and we will confirm the fit before you order.

Compatibility & Runtime

The honest answer on fitment

Schneider identifies the RBC30 only as a replaceable battery for the APC Back-UPS range — note that, unlike the RBC29, its description does not carry the “ES” qualifier. No Schneider document naming a host model for this cartridge could be found, and the distributor evidence is unusually thin and contradictory: one European supplier places it against the 230 V BF500-GR and “CyberFort 500” rebadges of the 500 VA class, one large catalogue tags it generically as a Smart-UPS part, and another lists it against the Back-UPS ES 350 and 500. Those cannot all be right, so none of them is published as fact.

What that means in practice

Order this cartridge by the number, not by the model. Open the battery compartment on your UPS and read what is printed on the pack you are removing; if it says RBC30, this is the part. Schneider also publishes the UPS to RBC cross reference list, which maps UPS models to cartridge numbers. Send us your UPS model and serial number and we will check it for you before you order — on a part with this little published fitment data, that is the sensible route.

Runtime

At 12 V and 5.1 Ah this is a small energy store sized for a brief ride-through and an orderly shutdown, not for working through an outage. How long it actually holds depends on the connected load, and on a Back-UPS only the battery-backed outlets draw on it at all — the surge-only sockets go dead the moment mains fails. Moving non-essential equipment off the backed outlets is the most effective way to stretch the runtime you have.

Hot-swap: not claimed

Schneider’s hot-swap position applies to Smart-UPS models with user-replaceable batteries. Nothing extends it to the Back-UPS family, and in any case the host for this cartridge is not established. Power the unit down and unplug it before opening the compartment.

Package Contents & RBC Series Ordering Information

In the box

One assembled APC RBC30 cartridge with the APC installation instruction sheet. No colour is published for this part; one distributor records it as not rack-mountable, which is what you would expect of a desktop cartridge, but that is a single source and is not stated as a specification above.

Note on the published dimensions and weight

Schneider does not publish dimensions or weight for this cartridge on any page or document we could reach, and its own data sheet could not be located. The figures in the specification table above come from authorised distributor listings that agree with each other, and they are labelled with that provenance rather than presented as Schneider figures. Use them for planning, and confirm before anything depends on them. Four distributor listings converge on 112 x 99 x 74 mm and two independent suppliers agree on a 2.28 kg shipping weight. A second, smaller set of dimensions also circulates for this part and appears to describe the bare cell rather than the cartridge housing; it is not used here.

Comparable APC cartridges at SourceIT

Cartridge numbers in this range are not interchangeable. Two cartridges can share a case, a weight and a chemistry and still differ in voltage, capacity or connector, so the number printed on the pack you are removing is the only safe way to order a replacement.

RBC30 (this listing) 12 V, 5.1 Ah, single block — Back-UPS
RBC29 12 V, 4.5 Ah, single block — Back-UPS ES, same published case size
RBC35 12 V, 3.0 Ah, single block, 1.4 kg
RBC3 12 V, 10 Ah, single block — roughly double the capacity
RBC2 The Back-UPS CS cartridge for 230 V BK-series units
Datasheet & Downloads

Schneider names a product data sheet for this cartridge on its product page, but the only link it offers sits on a route that cannot be retrieved, and no mirrored copy exists on any distributor host we can read — which is why the specification table above is shorter than on the sibling listings. Schneider’s download host is not linked either: it redirects across domains and has repeatedly served a different model’s document. If you need the data sheet for a tender, ask us and we will request it through the distributor.

Frequently Asked Questions — APC RBC30

Is the RBC30 5.1 Ah or 5.5 Ah?

5.1 Ah. That is the figure on Schneider’s own product page. The 5.5 Ah number that circulates comes from reseller listings and is not supported by any Schneider source. The 9 Ah this listing previously showed was wrong by a wide margin.

Which UPS models does it fit?

Schneider says only that it is a replaceable battery for the APC Back-UPS range and names no models, and the distributor evidence contradicts itself. So the honest answer is that we cannot tell you from the model number alone — read the cartridge number printed on the pack in your UPS, or send us the unit’s model and serial and we will check.

Why does this page have fewer specifications than your other cartridge listings?

Because Schneider publishes fewer, and we would rather show a gap than fill it with a guess. No product data sheet for the RBC30 could be located on any readable host, so the electrical ratings come from Schneider’s product page and the physical figures from distributors, each labelled with its source.

How does it differ from the RBC29?

Capacity, mainly. The RBC29 is 4.5 Ah and the RBC30 is 5.1 Ah, both 12 V single blocks, and distributors publish the same case dimensions for both. Schneider describes the RBC29 as a Back-UPS ES part and the RBC30 as a Back-UPS part without the ES qualifier. They are not interchangeable by assumption — order by the number.

Is it a genuine APC part?

Yes. SourceIT supplies APC by Schneider Electric stock with a GST invoice and local warranty handling. A generic 12 V cell of similar rating will often make contact in the bay, but it will not carry the cartridge’s terminal geometry or APC’s warranty.

Can I change it with the UPS running?

No. Schneider’s hot-swap statement is scoped to Smart-UPS models with user-replaceable batteries, and does not extend to Back-UPS units. Switch off, unplug, then open the battery compartment.

Does it come with a local Singapore warranty?

Yes. Every APC RBC30 sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice; APC backs the RBC30 with a 2-year manufacturer warranty. Schneider states the term as two years, repair or replace, with no regional split, so the figure above is the one that applies in Singapore.
