The APC RBC35 is a single-block sealed lead-acid replacement battery cartridge rated 12 V, 3.0 Ah, measuring 66 x 58 x 134 mm and weighing just 1.4 kg. It is the smallest cartridge covered in this part of the APC range, and it serves the smallest units: the 350 VA Back-UPS ES desktop models.
Three sources agree on the rating — Schneider’s data sheet populates the battery-voltage field as 12 V with a single block, Schneider’s product page describes a 12 V 3.0 Ah lead-acid battery, and the distributor parametric data matches. For a cartridge of this vintage that is about as well-established as a figure gets.
A 1.4 kg Part That Was Listed at 5.5 kg
The corrections on this page are large. Capacity was shown as 9 Ah and is 3.0 Ah. Weight was shown as 5.5 kg and is 1.4 kg net, 1.68 kg packaged — the old figure overstated it by nearly four times. The dimensions were given as 151 x 65 x 100 mm and are 66 x 58 x 134 mm.
The certification line has gone too. Schneider publishes no UL or CE mark for this cartridge. What it does publish is a RoHS position of pro-active compliance with the product sitting outside the legal scope of the EU directive, which is a weaker and more specific statement than the badge the old listing carried, and it is reproduced here as written.
Before You Order: This Cartridge Has No Confirmed 230 V Host
Every host model that could be traced for the RBC35 is a 120 V North American Back-UPS ES 350 VA unit — the BE350C, BE350G, BE350R, BE350T and BE350U. The equivalent 350 VA machine sold on 230 V mains reportedly takes the RBC2 instead.
That makes the RBC35 an installed-base part here: genuinely the right cartridge if you are maintaining an imported or legacy ES 350, and probably the wrong one if your UPS was bought in Singapore. We would rather tell you that before you order than process a return afterwards.

Reported hosts: the Back-UPS ES 350 VA family
Schneider publishes no host list for the RBC35. Two independent retailers and a customer account on Schneider’s own community forum name the BE350C, BE350G, BE350R, BE350T and BE350U — the 350 VA Back-UPS ES desktop range. The forum entry specifically pairs the RBC35 with the BE350U and, in the same breath, the RBC2 with the BE500U, which is a useful cross-check on both.
The explicit negative, and it matters here
No 230 V host was found for the RBC35 in any source. Every BE3xx designation above is a 120 V North American nameplate. The 230 V machine in the same power class, sold as the BK350-RS and BK350-GR, is reported to take the RBC2 rather than this cartridge.
So if your UPS was bought on Singapore mains, the RBC35 is probably not your part. If you are maintaining imported or legacy equipment, it may well be. Either way, the number printed on the pack you are removing settles it in seconds — and Schneider also publishes the UPS to RBC cross reference list.
Runtime
Twelve volts at 3 Ah is about 36 watt-hours before losses, which is a small store by design. A Back-UPS ES 350 exists to carry a router, a modem or a single desktop through a momentary interruption and to allow an orderly shutdown, not to work through an outage. On these units only the battery-backed sockets draw on the cartridge at all; the surge-only sockets go dead the moment mains fails, so what is plugged into which side determines the runtime you actually see.
Hot-swap: not claimed
Schneider’s hot-swap position covers Smart-UPS models with user-replaceable batteries, and the Back-UPS ES family sits outside it. Switch the unit off and unplug it from the wall before opening the battery compartment.

That check is not a formality in this range: several files in distributor libraries are indexed under one cartridge number and turn out to contain another’s document entirely. Schneider’s own download host is not linked, because it redirects across domains and has repeatedly served the wrong model’s document.
Frequently Asked Questions — APC RBC35
Is the RBC35 3 Ah or 9 Ah?
3.0 Ah. Schneider’s data sheet and product page both say 12 V 3.0 Ah, single block, and the 1.4 kg weight fits. The 9 Ah shown previously was boilerplate copied across many cartridge listings and was wrong by a factor of three.
Will it fit my UPS if I bought it in Singapore?
Possibly not. Every host traced for the RBC35 is a 120 V North American Back-UPS ES 350 VA unit, and the 230 V machine in the same class reportedly takes the RBC2 instead. Read the number printed on the cartridge in your unit before ordering, or send us the UPS model and serial and we will check.
Why is it so much lighter than the old listing said?
Because the old figure was wrong. It gave 5.5 kg for a 1.4 kg part, an overstatement of almost four times, and the same 5.5 kg appeared on several unrelated cartridge listings in the same catalogue.
What runtime will it give?
Minutes, and how many depends entirely on the load. About 36 watt-hours of stored energy before losses is enough for a router and an ONT to ride out a short interruption, or for a desktop to shut down cleanly. It is not enough to work through an outage, and it was never designed to be.
Is it RoHS compliant?
Schneider’s wording is more specific than that: pro-active compliance, with the product sitting outside the legal scope of the EU RoHS directive. That is what its data sheet says and it is what is published here. There is no UL or CE mark for this cartridge in any Schneider document, so neither is claimed.
Can I replace it with the UPS still on?
No. Schneider’s hot-swap statement is scoped to Smart-UPS models with user-replaceable batteries and does not cover the Back-UPS ES family. Switch off, unplug from the wall, then open the compartment.
Does it come with a local Singapore warranty?
