APC Replacement Battery Cartridge #29
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
APC Replacement Battery Cartridge #29 (RBC29) - 2 Years Local Warranty
APC RBC29 Replacement Battery Cartridge — 12 V 4.5 Ah for Back-UPS ES
The APC RBC29 is a compact single-block sealed lead-acid cartridge for the APC Back-UPS ES range — the small desktop units that sit under a home office desk or beside a router and modem. Schneider publishes it as a 12 V, 4.5 Ah replacement battery, and its lifecycle carbon footprint of just 12 kg CO2 equivalent confirms how small a part this really is.
That 4.5 Ah figure is the headline correction on this page. The previous listing claimed 9 Ah — double the real capacity — and 7.0 kg of weight against a real 1.7 kg. If you sized a runtime expectation from those numbers, the actual part will disappoint you; sized from these, it will do exactly what it should.
What a Back-UPS ES Cartridge Is For
A Back-UPS ES is not a server UPS. It exists to carry a modest load — a desktop, a monitor, a router, an ONT — through a brief interruption and give you time for an orderly shutdown, and to filter the surges and dips that arrive on a domestic supply. Its battery is sized for minutes, not hours, and 4.5 Ah is entirely appropriate for the job.
When that battery ages the unit does not usually fail dramatically. It starts failing its self-test, or the runtime collapses to a few seconds, or the front panel asks to have the battery replaced. The electronics are typically fine, and a genuine cartridge returns the unit to service for a small fraction of what a new UPS costs.
Home Office and Fibre Router Protection in Singapore
On a Singapore 230 V supply the interruptions that reach a home office are usually short: a dip during a thunderstorm, a momentary break during estate maintenance. Short is all it takes to reboot an ONT and drop a video call, or to leave a desktop mid-write on a file. A working ES battery makes those invisible.
Warmth shortens sealed lead-acid life, and these units habitually live in the worst place in the flat for it — behind a desk, against a wall, next to a router that runs hot. Giving the UPS a little air is the cheapest thing you can do to make the next cartridge last longer than the last one.
Genuine APC Cartridge, Local Warranty, GST Invoice
SourceIT supplies the RBC29 as genuine APC stock in Singapore with a GST invoice and local warranty support, under Schneider’s two-year repair-or-replace cartridge warranty, which carries no regional split.
Worth knowing before you order in quantity: Schneider has scheduled the RBC29 for discontinuation, with end of standard service to follow. Stock remains available and the part is unchanged, but if you maintain a fleet of Back-UPS ES units it is a sensible moment to ask us about the current equivalents.

Compatibility & Runtime
Which UPS models take the RBC29
Schneider identifies the RBC29 as the replaceable battery for the APC Back-UPS ES family and does not publish a model-by-model list. No Schneider document naming a specific host could be found, and none is invented here.
The one additional data point worth reporting comes from a European distributor, which lists the RBC29 against the 230 V Back-UPS ES 350 VA class sold under rebadged names — BF350-GR, BF350-IT, BF350-FR and the “CyberFort 350”. Those are private-label variants rather than standard APC-branded part numbers, so the entry is thin, but it does place the cartridge in the 350 VA ES class on a 230 V supply.
How to be certain
Open the battery compartment and read the number printed on the cartridge you are removing. APC prints it on the pack, and on a Back-UPS ES the compartment is a tool-free or single-screw cover on the underside or the back. Schneider also publishes the UPS to RBC cross reference list. If you would rather not open the unit, send us the model and serial from its label and we will check it.
Runtime
4.5 Ah at 12 V is a small energy store, and the runtime it delivers depends entirely on what is plugged into the battery-backed outlets. A router and an ONT will run for a useful stretch; a desktop and two monitors will not. Back-UPS ES units split their outlets between battery-backed and surge-only sockets for exactly this reason, and moving a printer or a desk lamp off the backed side is often worth more runtime than anything else you can do.
Hot-swap: not claimed
Schneider’s hot-swap statement is written for Smart-UPS models with user-replaceable batteries. Back-UPS units are outside its scope and no Schneider document extends it to them, so switch the unit off and unplug it from the wall before opening the battery compartment.

Note on the published dimensions and weight
Schneider does not publish dimensions or weight for this cartridge on any page or document we could reach, and its own data sheet could not be located. The figures in the specification table above come from authorised distributor listings that agree with each other, and they are labelled with that provenance rather than presented as Schneider figures. Use them for planning, and confirm before anything depends on them. Two distributors give a net weight of 1.7 kg and a case of 112 x 99 x 74 mm, and three independent sources put the shipping weight at about 1.96 kg. The same case dimensions are published for the RBC30, which is plausible for two cartridges of the same class but is worth knowing when you compare them.
Small APC cartridges at SourceIT
Cartridge numbers in this range are not interchangeable. Two cartridges can share a case, a weight and a chemistry and still differ in voltage, capacity or connector, so the number printed on the pack you are removing is the only safe way to order a replacement.
| RBC29 (this listing) | 12 V, 4.5 Ah, single block — Back-UPS ES |
| RBC30 | 12 V, 5.1 Ah, single block — the next capacity step up |

Disposal
Sealed lead-acid cells do not belong in household waste. Bring the exhausted cartridge back to us with the order reference and we will route it into the correct recycling stream.

Schneider does not appear to publish a standalone product data sheet for the RBC29 on any host we can reach, so the electrical figures on this page come from Schneider’s own product page and the physical figures from authorised distributors, each labelled accordingly. Schneider’s download host is deliberately not linked: it redirects across domains and has repeatedly returned a different model’s document. If you need a data sheet for a submittal, ask and we will pursue it through the distributor.
Frequently Asked Questions — APC RBC29
Is the RBC29 4.5 Ah or 9 Ah?
4.5 Ah. Schneider’s own product page states 12 V 4.5 Ah, and the 12 kg lifecycle carbon footprint and 1.7 kg weight both fit a single small block. The 9 Ah figure this listing previously carried came from boilerplate repeated across dozens of cartridge pages and was wrong by a factor of two.
Why is the weight so much lower than the old listing said?
Because the old listing was wrong. It gave 7.0 kg for what is a 1.7 kg part — an overstatement of roughly four times. The same 7.0 kg appeared on several unrelated cartridge listings, which is how the error was spotted.
Can I trust the dimensions on this page?
They are distributor figures, not Schneider ones, and they are labelled that way in the table. Schneider publishes no dimensions for this cartridge on any source we can reach. Two distributors agree on 112 x 99 x 74 mm, which is good enough for planning and not good enough to design around.
Which Back-UPS models does it fit?
Schneider says only “Back-UPS ES” and names no models. One European distributor places it against the 230 V ES 350 VA class sold as BF350-GR, BF350-IT, BF350-FR and CyberFort 350. The number printed on your existing cartridge remains the reliable check.
Is the RBC29 still available?
Yes, and stock is held here. Schneider has it scheduled for discontinuation with end of standard service to follow, so if you are planning a multi-year maintenance programme for a fleet of Back-UPS ES units, ask us and we will map the current equivalents alongside it.
Do I need to power the UPS down to change it?
Yes. Schneider’s hot-swap statement covers Smart-UPS units with user-replaceable batteries, and Back-UPS models sit outside it. Switch off, unplug from the wall, then open the battery compartment.
Does it come with a local Singapore warranty?
Yes. Every APC RBC29 sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice; APC backs the RBC29 with a 2-year manufacturer warranty. Schneider states the term as two years, repair or replace, with no regional split, so the figure above is the one that applies in Singapore.
