ASUS ExpertBook P3 vs Dell Pro: Are Businesses Overpaying for Familiar Brands?

Not by much, and not always. On SourceIT's 4 Nov 2026 listings the ASUS ExpertBook P3 is usually the cheaper way to get a given specification. The gaps are tens to low hundreds of dollars, and Dell wins on vPro, weight and published repairability. The ASUS ExpertBook P3 G2 (PM3406CHA) with Ryzen 7 8840HS, 16GB and 1TB is S$1,740.00, and the Dell Pro 14 (PC14255) with Ryzen AI 5 PRO 340, 16GB and 512GB is S$1,817.47. That makes the P3 S$77.47 cheaper with twice the storage. Against the 2026 Dell Pro 5 14 with Core Ultra 5 335 vPro, 16GB and 512GB at S$2,291.13, the ExpertBook P3 (P3406CCA) with Core Ultra 7 255H at S$2,099.00 is S$192.13 less. For a 50-laptop order those gaps come to S$3,873.50 and S$9,606.50. They are real money, but small next to what a wrong choice on management or service could cost.

Prices are SourceIT listings on 4 Nov 2026. Processors are not identical within each pair, so compare the specification you need rather than the brand. Every in-stock ExpertBook listing states 3 years onsite, next business day, with a 3-year battery warranty. Dell listings state 3 years with varying service levels (ProSupport, Basic Onsite, or collect and return). We have not tested these laptops ourselves.

Where does the ExpertBook P3 give more for the money?

  • Storage and memory headroom. The S$1,740.00 P3 G2 ships with 1TB against 512GB on the Dell Pro 14 and Pro Essential 14. ASUS lists up to 96GB across the P3's two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots.
  • Published durability figures. For the 2026 P3 G2, ASUS publishes "11 methods, 24 testing procedures" under MIL-STD-810H. It also lists 50,000 hinge cycles, a 10-million keystroke lifespan, a 355 cc spill test and 50 kg of pressure on the lid and base. Dell's 2025 Pro Essential datasheet says it "passed 15 MIL-STD-810H tests", performed and reported independently. Dell's 2026 Pro 5 pages make no MIL-STD claim, and Dell's Singapore listing for the Pro 14 says only "Durable chassis passes MIL-STD testing".
  • Consistent warranty wording. Every in-stock P3 listing says 3 years onsite, next business day. The Dell Pro 5 listing states 3 years but adds that Dell Singapore's base service is collect and return. Check which level is on your quotation.
On these listings the ExpertBook is typically S$30–S$200 cheaper per laptop. That is real savings, not a revelation. Decide on management, service and weight first.

Where is Dell worth paying for?

  • vPro. The Dell Pro 14 Plus (Core Ultra 5 235U) and Pro 5 14 (Core Ultra 5 335) listings are vPro models. ASUS does not offer vPro on the P series. If your IT team uses Intel AMT for remote fixes when Windows will not boot, the P3 is the wrong choice. The ExpertBook B5 G2 with a vPro chip is the ASUS answer.
  • Repairability evidence. Dell publishes a French repairability index score of 9.3 for the Dell Pro 14 PC14255. ASUS publishes no per-model score for the P3, and TechRadar found the 16-inch P3's underside hard to open.
  • Weight. Dell quotes the 2026 Pro 5 at 1.34 kg. SourceIT's listings give 1.47–1.49 kg for the 14-inch P3 and 1.77 kg for the 16-inch.
  • The very cheapest entry point. At S$1,400.70, the 8GB Dell Pro 14 Essential is the cheapest business laptop in this comparison. Be aware that 8GB is tight for Windows 11 office work in 2026. See Buying an 8GB Laptop in 2026: Smart Savings or an Expensive Mistake? before choosing it.

So are businesses overpaying for familiar brands?

Sometimes, but the "brand premium" is smaller than many buyers assume, and part of it buys real things: vPro, a published repair score, a lighter chassis or an established service relationship. Where those things do not matter, the ExpertBook P3 is a sensible way to get more storage and memory headroom per dollar, with warranty terms stated plainly on every listing. Where they do matter, paying up to about S$200 more per laptop is a reasonable price for the right fit. Brand familiarity alone is not a reason to pay more. Neither is a military-standard badge: Dell and ASUS both say their testing is no guarantee of future performance.
