PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
ASUS ExpertBook P3 G2 (14" AMD) PM3406CHA-LY0120X (90NX09U2-M004B0) - AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS / 16GB DDR5 / 1TB SSD - 3 Years Onsite Warranty
A 14-Inch AMD Business Laptop Built for Everyday Office Work
The ASUS ExpertBook P3 G2 PM3406CHA-LY0120X is a 14-inch business laptop built on the AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS processor, with 16GB of DDR5 memory, a 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD and Windows 11 Pro preinstalled. It sits in ASUS's ExpertBook P3 line, the mainstream business range positioned for SMEs and corporate fleets that need dependable performance, wired Ethernet and a full security stack without paying flagship prices. The finish is Misty Grey with an aluminium display lid.
It shares its 14-inch chassis footprint with the Intel-based ExpertBook P3 G1 P3406CCA-LY0040X in our catalogue. The PM3406CHA is the AMD choice in that pair, trading the Intel model's Thunderbolt 4 port for USB4 and doubling the SSD to 1TB.
AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS with Radeon 780M Graphics
The Ryzen 7 8840HS is an 8-core, 16-thread processor running from 3.3GHz up to 5.1GHz with 16MB of cache. It includes an AMD XDNA NPU rated at up to 16 TOPS for on-device AI tasks such as Windows Studio Effects on video calls, and AMD Radeon 780M integrated graphics, which handle multi-monitor office work, video conferencing and light photo editing comfortably.
14.0-inch WUXGA Anti-Glare Display
The 14.0-inch non-touch panel runs at WUXGA 1920 x 1200 in a 16:10 aspect ratio, which gives you more vertical space for documents and spreadsheets than a standard 16:9 Full HD screen. It is anti-glare, rated at 300 nits with 800:1 typical contrast and 45% NTSC colour gamut, and has a 88% screen-to-body ratio. It suits office lighting well; it is not aimed at colour-critical design work.
Upgradeable Memory and Storage
Memory is 16GB DDR5 in SO-DIMM form across two slots, so it can be expanded later (ASUS lists up to 96GB for this platform) rather than being soldered to the board. Storage is a 1TB M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD, and the chassis also has a second M.2 2230 PCIe 4.0 slot, which is useful if your IT team wants to add a second drive. Upgrades require removing the bottom case.
Wi-Fi 7, Ethernet and a Full Set of Ports
Connectivity includes a USB 4.0 Type-C port, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, HDMI 2.1, a built-in RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet port and a 3.5mm combo audio jack. Both Type-C ports support display output and power delivery, and wireless is Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be, tri-band 2x2) with Bluetooth 5.4. The built-in Ethernet port means no dongle is needed in offices that rely on wired LAN.
Business Security and MIL-STD 810H Durability
Sign-in is covered twice over, by a fingerprint sensor in the power key and an IR camera for Windows Hello face recognition, and the 1080p camera has a physical privacy shutter. TPM 2.0, BIOS self-recovery, Absolute Persistence support and ASUS ExpertGuardian (NIST SP 800-155) support standard IT security policies. ASUS tests the chassis to the US MIL-STD 810H military-grade standard (24 procedures).

Connectivity & Setup / Security Features
Docking and External Displays
The USB 4.0 Type-C port carries display, high-speed data and charging over one cable, so a USB-C dock at the desk can power the laptop and drive external monitors in a single connection. The second USB-C port (USB 3.2 Gen 2) also supports display output and power delivery, and HDMI 2.1 connects a monitor or meeting-room screen directly. There is no Thunderbolt port on this AMD model.
Wired and Wireless Networking
The built-in RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet port connects straight to an office LAN with no adapter. Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be, tri-band 2x2) works with current Wi-Fi 7 access points and falls back to Wi-Fi 6E/6/5 networks; Bluetooth 5.4 handles headsets, mice and keyboards.
First-Time Setup
The laptop ships with Windows 11 Pro, so it can join Microsoft Entra ID or an on-premises Active Directory domain and be enrolled in Intune or another MDM on first boot. MyASUS provides system diagnostics, battery health charging (to limit charge level on machines that stay plugged in) and fan profiles. ASUS MyExpert adds ExpertMeet meeting tools on supported configurations.
Sign-In and Device Protection
Users can sign in with the fingerprint sensor in the power key or the IR camera through Windows Hello, and the physical shutter closes the camera when it is not in use. TPM 2.0 supports BitLocker drive encryption, and the machine is a Microsoft Secured-core PC with BIOS protection and self-recovery. Absolute Persistence 2.0 support lets IT track and lock lost devices, and the Kensington Nano slot accepts a cable lock for hot-desk areas.
