PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TP-Link AV1000 Gigabit Passthrough Powerline Starter Kit (TL-PA7017P KIT) - 3 Years Local Warranty

The TL-PA7017P KIT is a two-adapter powerline pair that carries your network over existing electrical wiring, with a passthrough socket on each unit so the wall point stays usable. It is the compact AV1000 passthrough option in TP-Link's range: one Gigabit Ethernet port per adapter, a single Pair button for setup, and no software needed to get a link running.

AV1000 Powerline Built on HomePlug AV2

TP-Link markets this kit at up to 1000 Mbps on the powerline side. That figure appears in the page's feature copy rather than in the specification table, so we quote it as TP-Link presents it and note the distinction. The underlying standards are published clearly: HomePlug AV2, HomePlug AV, IEEE 1901, IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u and IEEE 802.3ab. TP-Link's own footnote is explicit that maximum powerline rates are physical rates derived from the HomePlug specification and that real throughput varies with electrical interference, traffic, network overhead, AFCI breakers and whether the two adapters sit on separate circuits.

A Passthrough Socket on Every Adapter

Each TL-PA7017P plugs into a wall point and gives the socket back through an integrated passthrough outlet, so a lamp, a charger or a desk power strip can still use it. TP-Link does not publish an amperage rating for the passthrough socket on this model — the 13 A figure published for the larger TL-PA9020P belongs to that model only and is not carried across here. The adapter itself is rated at a maximum of 3.26 W, typical 2.58 W, and 0.83 W on standby.

One Gigabit Port, 128-bit AES and Pair-Button Setup

The Interface row reads "Gigabit Ethernet Port" — one port per adapter, not two. Powerline traffic is secured with 128-bit AES encryption and the network is formed by pressing the Pair button on each adapter; no configuration screen is needed for a basic link. TP-Link's tpPLC utility is available for Windows XP through 10 and macOS 10.7 or later for anyone who wants to see the link rate or rename the network.

Compact Enough for a Crowded Socket Wall

At 58 x 42 x 95 mm the adapter is small for a passthrough model, which matters where sockets sit behind furniture or in a tight riser cupboard. Rated range is 300 metres over the electrical circuit, and the operating window is 0°C~40°C at 10%~90% non-condensing humidity — comfortable for Singapore indoor use, though the adapter should not be boxed in without airflow.

Ideal For

Singapore homes and small offices that need a wired link to one back room, apartments where drilling for Cat 6 is not allowed, and anyone who cannot afford to lose a wall socket to the adapter. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and volume pricing on request.

Note: TP-Link publishes no net weight, no storage-temperature row and no FCC certification for this model, and does not state the passthrough socket's current rating. Those rows are omitted here rather than filled from another model. The specification table's Compatibility row reads "Compatible with any powerline adapters/extenders and routers" while the page footnote restricts compatibility to HomePlug AV and AV2 adapters; both are reproduced below as published.

General

Model TL-PA7017P KIT
Official Product Name AV1000 Gigabit Passthrough Powerline Starter Kit
Brand TP-Link
Warranty 3 Years Local Warranty (Singapore)

Specifications

Powerline Rate Up to 1000 Mbps (published in TP-Link's feature copy; no transmission-speed row appears in the specification table)
Standards and Protocols HomePlug AV2, HomePlug AV, IEEE 1901, IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.3ab
Compatibility "Compatible with any powerline adapters/extenders and routers" (specification table) — the page footnote instead states compatibility with HomePlug AV and AV2 standard powerline adapters only. Both are TP-Link's own text; the footnote is the safer reading.

Operating Temperature 0°C~40°C (32°F~104°F)
Operating Humidity 10%~90% non-condensing
Storage Humidity 5%~90% non-condensing

TP-Link publishes no net weight, no storage-temperature row, no Ethernet rate row, no QoS row and no passthrough-socket current rating for this model, so none is claimed here.

Compatibility & Software Support
Powerline Standard HomePlug AV2 and HomePlug AV, with IEEE 1901 support
Other Powerline Adapters TP-Link's footnote states compatibility with all HomePlug AV and AV2 standard powerline adapters
G.hn Powerline Not applicable — HomePlug AV2 and G.hn are different powerline standards and do not interoperate
Router Compatibility Works with a standard router or gateway. TP-Link cautions the product may not be compatible with routers or gateways whose firmware has been altered, is based on open source programs, or is non-standard or outdated
Utility tpPLC Utility — Windows XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10 and Mac OS X 10.7 or later
Setup Pair button; no software required for a basic link

Both adapters should sit on the same consumer unit. Extension leads, RCD/AFCI breakers and separate circuits all reduce throughput.

Frequently Asked Questions — TL-PA7017P KIT

How many Ethernet ports does each adapter have?

One. TP-Link's Interface row reads "Gigabit Ethernet Port" in the singular for this model. If you need two wired devices at the far end, add a small switch or choose the TL-PA9020P KIT, which publishes two ports per adapter.

Can I plug an appliance into the adapter?

Yes — that is the point of the passthrough socket. TP-Link does not publish a current rating for the socket on this model, so for a heavy load such as a heater or an air-conditioner, use a separate wall point.

Will it reach 1000 Mbps?

That is the class rating, not a guarantee. TP-Link states real throughput varies with electrical interference, traffic volume, network overhead, AFCI circuit breakers and whether the adapters are on separate circuits.

What warranty does SourceIT provide?

Three years local Singapore warranty, in line with TP-Link's published replacement warranty for this category. Every unit sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.

Can SourceIT quote this in volume?

Yes. Send us the quantity and the delivery date and we will quote, including advice where the wiring layout is unusual.
