PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
TP-Link 8-Port 10/100/1000Mbps Desktop Switch (TL-SG108) - 5 Years Local Warranty
The TL-SG108 is an eight-port Gigabit desktop switch in a 158 mm steel case, drawing 3.3 W and running completely silent. IGMP Snooping, 802.1p/DSCP QoS and a 1.5 Mb packet buffer put it a class above the cheapest eight-port switches, and Green Technology cuts power by up to 82 per cent on idle and short links.
Eight Gigabit Ports in a Steel Case
Eight 10/100/1000 Mbps ports with Auto-Negotiation and Auto-MDI/MDIX, in a 158 x 101 x 25 mm metal housing 25 mm tall. Each RJ45 socket carries its own Link/Act indicator, so a failed link is visible at a glance without a separate LED strip. The steel case matters in the places an eight-port switch usually lives — on a shelf, under a desk, inside AV furniture — where a plastic body takes knocks.
IGMP Snooping and QoS Without Configuration
IGMP Snooping keeps multicast video on the ports that asked for it rather than flooding all eight, which keeps IPTV, signage and AV-over-IP streams from swamping the segment. 802.1p/DSCP QoS prioritises marked voice and video traffic, and 802.3x flow control with a 1.5 Mb packet buffer absorbs bursts. All of it is hardware behaviour: there is no interface, no login and nothing to set.
Green Technology, 3.3 W Maximum
TP-Link rates the Green Technology implementation at up to 82 per cent power saving, and the whole switch at a 3.3 W maximum draw with 11.3 BTU/h of heat, from an external 9 V DC / 0.6 A adapter. There is no fan, so the unit is silent — which is what makes it usable in a meeting room, a consulting room or a recording space rather than only in a cabinet.
11.9 Mpps Forwarding With 16 KB Jumbo Frames
The 11.9 Mpps packet forwarding rate sustains line rate across eight Gigabit ports at minimum frame size, and jumbo frames up to 16 KB help NAS, imaging and backup traffic move efficiently. A 4K MAC address table covers a small office segment including access points carrying wireless clients. Store-and-forward switching validates each frame before it is forwarded.
Ideal For
Singapore offices, clinics, studios and meeting rooms that need eight quiet Gigabit ports on a desk or shelf, with multicast and QoS handling built in and nothing to configure. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Frequently Asked Questions — TL-SG108
How does it differ from the TL-SG1008D?
Both are eight-port Gigabit desktop switches. The TL-SG108 is the 158 mm steel-cased model and publishes IGMP Snooping, 802.1p/DSCP QoS and a 1.5 Mb buffer; the TL-SG1008D is a 180 mm unit with a simpler published feature set. Ask us if the application involves multicast video.
How does it differ from the TL-SG108E?
The TL-SG108 is fully unmanaged. The TL-SG108E is the Easy Smart version with a web interface for VLANs, port mirroring and link aggregation. Choose the E if you need VLANs.
Does it supply PoE?
No. It does not supply PoE and is not itself PoE powered. For PoE, look at the TL-SG1008P, TL-SG1008MP or TL-SG108PE.
Can it be rack mounted?
No rackmount kit is supplied and TP-Link publishes no mounting row for this model; it is specified as a desktop switch.
What warranty does SourceIT provide?
Five years local Singapore warranty, in line with TP-Link's replacement warranty policy for unmanaged Gigabit switches. Every unit sold by SourceIT comes with a GST invoice.
