PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TP-Link Omada 10/100Mbps Single-Mode Media Converter (MC110CS) - 5 Years Local Warranty

The MC110CS converts a 10/100Mbps copper link to 100BASE-FX single-mode fibre, extending a Fast Ethernet segment up to 20 km on a standard dual-fibre SC/UPC pair at 1310 nm. It is the straightforward way to reach a gatehouse, an outbuilding, a car park or a second block where copper's 100 m limit stops the network dead.

Extends a Fast Ethernet Link to 20 Kilometres

Copper Ethernet stops at 100 m. Single-mode fibre through the MC110CS carries the same 10/100 link up to 20 km, which turns a site-wide cabling problem into a routine one - a second building across a compound, a pumping station, a security gatehouse, a remote car park or a tenant unit on the far side of a campus. Deployed in pairs, one converter at each end, the fibre run is transparent to everything on either side of it.

Dual-Fibre SC/UPC at 1310 nm

TP-Link publishes two 100M SC/UPC ports on the MC110CS, so it uses a conventional two-strand single-mode pair - one strand transmitting, one receiving - at a 1310 nm wavelength. That is the common case for existing structured fibre, where duplex SC patch leads and dual-core single-mode backbone are already installed. Where only a single strand is available, TP-Link's WDM converters such as the MC111CS and MC112CS are the alternative; SourceIT can advise which matches the fibre on site.

Immunity to Electrical Noise and Ground Potential Difference

Fibre carries no current, so a converted link is immune to the electromagnetic interference that degrades copper near motors, lifts, industrial plant and heavy power runs. Just as importantly, it electrically isolates the two buildings, removing the ground potential difference that makes inter-building copper a genuine equipment-damage risk during a storm. For most Singapore multi-building sites that isolation, rather than the distance, is the real reason to convert to fibre.

Auto-Negotiation, Flow Control and Fanless Operation

The RJ45 side is a 10/100M port with Auto MDI/MDIX, so cable polarity is handled in hardware. TP-Link lists auto-negotiation of half and full duplex transfer mode, IEEE 802.3x full-duplex flow control and back pressure for half-duplex links, which keeps older equipment on the copper side behaving correctly rather than silently dropping frames. The unit is 94.5 x 73.0 x 27.0 mm, draws a maximum of 2.4W from an external supply, and carries PWR and Link/Act LEDs for at-a-glance status.

Rated to 50 °C and Backed by Five Years Local Warranty

Operating temperature runs to 50 °C - a full ten degrees above the 40 °C ceiling on most of TP-Link's desktop switches - which matters in an unconditioned riser, a roof plant room or a weatherproof enclosure at the far end of a compound. The converter is certified to FCC, CE and RoHS. Omada accessories including media converters fall under TP-Link's five-year replacement warranty, and SourceIT supplies every unit with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice.

Ideal For

Singapore multi-building campuses, industrial sites, schools, condominium estates and security installations linking a remote gatehouse, outbuilding or car park back to the main comms room over single-mode fibre. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty, GST invoice and project pricing on request.

Frequently Asked Questions — MC110CS

Do I need two converters?

Normally yes — one at each end of the fibre run. The exception is where the far end terminates directly into a switch with a 100BASE-FX fibre port of the matching type.

Will it work on multi-mode fibre?

No. The MC110CS is single-mode at 1310 nm. For multi-mode runs, ask SourceIT about the multi-mode converters in the same family.

What if only one fibre strand is available?

The MC110CS uses a dual-fibre SC/UPC pair. For a single-strand run you need a WDM bi-directional pair such as the MC111CS and MC112CS, which transmit and receive on different wavelengths over one strand.

Does it pass Gigabit traffic?

No. This is a 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet converter. For Gigabit over fibre, ask SourceIT about the TL-FC311 series or an SFP-based switch uplink.

What warranty does SourceIT provide?

Five years local Singapore warranty, in line with TP-Link's replacement warranty tier for Omada media converters. Every unit comes with a GST invoice.
