PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TP-Link AX3000 Dual Band Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Router (Archer AX50) - 3 Years Local Warranty

The Archer AX50 is TP-Link's entry into serious Wi-Fi 6 for a three-bedroom Singapore home: 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz, 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, a dual-core processor, five Gigabit ports with link aggregation and a USB 3.0 port for network storage. It is the dual-band AX3000 that keeps HomeCare antivirus and parental controls rather than the newer HomeShield suite.

AX3000 Dual-Band Speeds on Four Streams

TP-Link rates the AX50 at 2402 Mbps on the 5 GHz band using 802.11ax with HE160, and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, also 802.11ax. Four streams and OFDMA let the router talk to several Wi-Fi 6 clients in the same transmission slot instead of queuing them one behind the other, which is what makes a difference in a flat where phones, a smart TV, a console and two laptops are all live at once. HE160 speeds require a client that supports 160 MHz bandwidth.

Four Fixed Antennas, Beamforming and High-Power FEM

Coverage comes from four fixed high-performance antennas working as a signal-boosting array, Beamforming that concentrates signal towards the client rather than radiating evenly, and a high-power front-end module that lifts transmission power. TP-Link rates the result at three-bedroom houses. Airtime Fairness stops a slow legacy device from holding the channel longer than it needs, and DFS opens additional 5 GHz channels to step around congestion in a dense HDB block.

Five Gigabit Ports, Link Aggregation and USB 3.0 Storage

The AX50 has one Gigabit WAN port and four Gigabit LAN ports, with static link aggregation available across two of the LAN ports for a NAS that supports it. A single USB 3.0 port reads NTFS, exFAT, HFS+ and FAT32 volumes and can serve them as an FTP server, media server or Samba share, and it supports Apple Time Machine backups. Buttons cover Wi-Fi/WPS, power, LED and reset.

HomeCare Antivirus, Parental Controls and Application QoS

Security on this model is TP-Link HomeCare rather than HomeShield: a malicious site checker, port intrusion prevention, infected device isolation, and notification and logging. Parental controls run on custom profiles with content filtering, app blocking, URL filtering, time limits and bedtime schedules. QoS works by device and, through HomeCare, by application. The router also runs an OpenVPN or PPTP VPN server, and supports guest networks on both bands.

Encryption: WPA2 and Enterprise 802.1x, Not WPA3

TP-Link's published encryption list for the Archer AX50 is WEP, WPA, WPA2 and WPA/WPA2-Enterprise with 802.1x. WPA3 is not on that list, which matters if your IT policy requires it or if you have recent devices that prefer WPA3-only networks. The router does support Access Point mode alongside Router mode, so it can be dropped behind an existing ISP gateway. TP-Link publishes MU-MIMO for the Archer AX50 in the product page's feature sections, though its specification table carries no MU-MIMO row; the page publishes no mesh row at all, and no mesh claim is made here.

Ideal For

Singapore households on a 1 Gbps fibre plan who want a proper Wi-Fi 6 upgrade with USB file sharing and link aggregation, without paying for tri-band or multi-gig ports. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty and GST invoice.

Frequently Asked Questions — Archer AX50

Does the Archer AX50 support WPA3?

TP-Link's published encryption list for this model is WEP, WPA, WPA2 and WPA/WPA2-Enterprise (802.1x). WPA3 is not listed. If WPA3 is a requirement, look at the Archer AX55 Pro, AX72 or a Wi-Fi 7 model instead.

Can I use it behind my existing ISP router?

Yes. The AX50 supports Access Point mode as well as Router mode, so it can extend or replace the wireless side of an ISP-supplied gateway.

What can I do with the USB 3.0 port?

Attach a drive formatted NTFS, exFAT, HFS+ or FAT32 and share it over FTP, a media server or Samba. It also works as an Apple Time Machine target.

What warranty does SourceIT provide?

Three years local Singapore warranty, under TP-Link's published replacement warranty terms. Every unit is supplied with a GST invoice.

Can SourceIT quote this for an office or a project?

Yes. Send us the quantity and we will quote with local warranty, delivery and support.
