PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TP-Link AX3000 Dual Band Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 Router (Archer AX53) - 3 Years Local Warranty

The Archer AX53 carries the same AX3000 rating as the Archer AX55 — 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz over five Gigabit ports, with HomeShield security, WPA3 and both OneMesh and EasyMesh. The difference is that TP-Link publishes no USB port for the AX53, which makes it the cleaner choice where network storage is not needed.

AX3000 Speeds on Four Streams

TP-Link rates the AX53 at 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz using 802.11ax with HE160, and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, also 802.11ax. Four streams and OFDMA let the router serve several Wi-Fi 6 clients inside a single transmission slot rather than queuing them one behind another, which is where the difference shows in a flat running phones, a smart TV, a console and a couple of laptops at the same time. HE160 rates require a client that supports 160 MHz bandwidth.

Four Fixed Antennas, Beamforming and High-Power FEM

Range comes from four fixed high-performance antennas forming a signal-boosting array, Beamforming that concentrates signal towards the client, and a high-power front-end module that lifts transmission power. TP-Link rates the coverage at three-bedroom houses. Airtime Fairness limits how long a slow legacy device can hold the channel, and DFS opens additional 5 GHz channels to route around a congested HDB block.

Five Gigabit Ports, No USB

The AX53 has one Gigabit WAN port and four Gigabit LAN ports. TP-Link's specification table for this model publishes no USB port, so it will not act as an FTP, Samba or Time Machine host — if that matters, the Archer AX55 is the model in the same speed class that does publish a USB 3.0 port. Physical controls are a Wi-Fi/WPS button, a power on/off button, an LED on/off button and a reset button, and power is 12 V DC, 2 A.

HomeShield Security and WPA3

Security is the HomeShield suite: real-time IoT protection, a malicious site blocker, an intrusion prevention system, DDoS attack prevention and a home network scanner, alongside an SPI firewall, access control, IP and MAC binding and an application layer gateway. Published encryption is WPA, WPA2, WPA3 and WPA/WPA2-Enterprise. The router runs an OpenVPN or PPTP VPN server. HomeShield ships with a free Basic plan; the Pro plan is a paid subscription.

OneMesh and EasyMesh, Plus Access Point Mode

The AX53 publishes OneMesh support and compatibility with EasyMesh devices, so it can be paired with TP-Link OneMesh extenders or joined to an EasyMesh network. It also runs in Access Point mode behind an existing ISP gateway. Parental controls are the HomeShield set — custom profiles, a professional content filter library, Family Time, Bedtime, Off Time, Time Rewards, Family Online Time Ranking, Pause the Internet, and weekly and monthly reports.

Ideal For

Singapore households on a 1 Gbps fibre plan who want full AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 with WPA3 and HomeShield at a lower price than the USB-equipped AX55, with the option to mesh later. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty and GST invoice.
