TP-Link AX1800 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 Router (Archer AX23) - 3 Years Local Warranty
The Archer AX23 is TP-Link's value AX1800: 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, five Gigabit ports, four fixed antennas and a dual-core processor. It publishes a WireGuard VPN client alongside OpenVPN and PPTP, and it supports both OneMesh and EasyMesh.
AX1800 Speeds With 802.11ax on Both Bands
TP-Link rates the AX23 at 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, both using 802.11ax. The 2.4 GHz band running Wi-Fi 6 rather than 802.11n is the detail that separates it from the AX10 and AX12, which publish 300 Mbps 802.11n on that band. Four streams and OFDMA let the router communicate with several Wi-Fi 6 clients in the same transmission slot, and Airtime Fairness keeps older devices from holding the channel longer than they need.
Four Fixed Antennas and Beamforming
Coverage comes from four fixed high-performance antennas and Beamforming, which concentrates the signal towards connected devices rather than radiating evenly in all directions. TP-Link rates the result at three-bedroom houses. Working modes are Router and Access Point, so the AX23 can replace an ISP gateway or sit behind one and take over only the wireless side. Power is 12 V DC, 1.5 A.
Five Gigabit Ports, No USB
Wired connectivity is one Gigabit WAN port and four Gigabit LAN ports. TP-Link publishes no USB port for this model, so it is not a file-sharing or Time Machine host — the Archer AX20 is the AX1800 in the range that does publish one, along with a quad-core processor. Buttons are WPS/Wi-Fi, power on/off, LED on/off and reset.
WPA3 and a WireGuard VPN Client
Published encryption is WPA, WPA2, WPA3 and WPA/WPA2-Enterprise with 802.1x, on top of an SPI firewall, access control, IP and MAC binding and an application layer gateway. The AX23 runs OpenVPN and PPTP server roles, and as a VPN client it supports OpenVPN, PPTP and WireGuard — WireGuard being notably faster and lighter than the older protocols, and unusual on a router at this price. Parental controls are the basic set: URL filtering and time controls.
OneMesh and EasyMesh Together
TP-Link publishes both OneMesh support and EasyMesh compatibility for the AX23, so it can pair with TP-Link OneMesh extenders or join a mesh built from EasyMesh-compatible devices, including some from other vendors. TP-Link's specification table for this model publishes no MU-MIMO row and no HomeShield service kit; no claim is made here for either.

How does the AX23 differ from the Archer AX10 and AX12?
All three are entry Wi-Fi 6 routers, but the AX23 is rated AX1800 with 802.11ax on both bands (1201 and 574 Mbps), while the AX10 and AX12 are AX1500 with 802.11n on 2.4 GHz at 300 Mbps. The AX23 also publishes a VPN client with WireGuard, which neither of the other two does.
Does it have a USB port?
No. TP-Link publishes no USB port for this model. For USB file sharing in the AX1800 class, the Archer AX20 publishes a USB 2.0 port.
Can it join a mesh network?
Yes. TP-Link publishes both OneMesh support and EasyMesh compatibility for the AX23.
