The Archer T4U Plus adds dual-band AC1300 Wi-Fi to a desktop or notebook over USB 3.0, using two external 5 dBi high-gain antennas and a one-metre USB 3.0 cable so the adapter can sit where the signal is strongest rather than behind a metal chassis. It is the antenna-equipped member of TP-Link's AC1300 USB range.
867 Mbps on 5 GHz, 400 Mbps on 2.4 GHz
TP-Link rates the adapter at up to 867 Mbps (dynamic) on 5 GHz under 802.11ac, and up to 400 Mbps (dynamic) on 2.4 GHz under 802.11n, marketed together as 1300 Mbps. The 5 GHz band suits video calls, file transfers and streaming where the router is within a room or two; the 2.4 GHz band carries further through walls for general browsing and cloud work. Both bands are supported, and the adapter uses whichever network you connect it to. Published rates are physical-layer maximums, not throughput.

The adapter connects over USB 3.0 and ships with a one-metre USB 3.0 cable in the box. To see USB 3.0 speeds the host computer needs a USB 3.0 port of its own; on a USB 2.0 port the host connection becomes the limit before the wireless link does.
