PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

TP-Link AC750 Wi-Fi Range Extender (RE205) - 3 Years Local Warranty

The RE205 is the AC750 model in TP-Link’s compact extender line: 433 Mbps on 5 GHz, 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz, two external antennas and a 10/100 Ethernet port. It shares the RE305’s 80 x 78 x 77 mm body and 7.3 W draw, at a lower 5 GHz rating and a lower price.

AC750 Dual-Band Coverage

TP-Link rates the RE205 at up to 433 Mbps on 5 GHz and up to 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. That is enough for browsing, email, video calls and HD streaming in a room the router does not serve well. If the extended area will carry several simultaneous 4K streams or large file transfers, the AC1200 RE305 is the better fit for a small step up in price.

Two External Antennas in a Compact Body

Two aimable external antennas on an 80 x 78 x 77 mm chassis. The unit sits flush against the wall rather than hanging from the socket, and once you have settled on its final position, pointing the antennas toward the router is worth doing — the link back to the router is what limits everything the extender then rebroadcasts.

Range Extender and Access Point Modes

Working modes are Range Extender and Access Point. Published wireless functions are wireless statistics, a concurrent mode boosting both bands, access control, LED control and a domain login function. Wireless security covers 64/128-bit WEP and WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK, with transmission power rated under 19.5 dBm on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.

A 10/100 Port for One Wired Device

The RJ45 port runs at 10/100 Mbps, so a smart TV, set-top box or console can be wired through the extender instead of competing for Wi-Fi — capped at 100 Mbps, which is not a constraint for streaming but is one for a file server. Maximum draw is 7.3 W from a 100-240 V outlet.

Ideal For

Singapore flats and small offices with a single weak room and modest bandwidth needs, and buyers who want the lowest-cost dual-band extender with an aimable antenna pair. Supplied by SourceIT with local Singapore warranty and GST invoice.

TP-Link publishes no mesh-technology row, no wireless-standards row in the wireless section, no coverage area and no net weight for the RE205, so none is claimed here. TP-Link states that maximum wireless signal rates are the physical rates derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications, and that actual throughput and coverage are not guaranteed and vary with environmental factors, network conditions and client limitations.

Frequently Asked Questions — RE205

RE205 or RE305?

Same body, same antennas, same port. The difference is the 5 GHz rating: 433 Mbps on the RE205 against 867 Mbps on the RE305. If the extended room only needs browsing, calls and HD streaming, the RE205 is enough.

RE205 or RE200?

Both are AC750, rated 433 Mbps on 5 GHz and 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. The RE200 has three internal antennas, an RE (Range Extender) button rather than a WPS button, and TP-Link lists OneMesh as its mesh technology. The RE205 has two external antennas and no published mesh technology. Pick the RE200 if single-Wi-Fi-name roaming with a OneMesh router matters.

Does the box contain an RE205?

Yes. TP-Link’s RE205 page prints its package content row as “AC1200 Wi-Fi Range Extender RE305; Quick Installation Guide”, while the same page names the product “AC750 Wi-Fi Range Extender” (RE205). The unit supplied against this listing is an RE205 — ask us if you need the carton contents confirmed before ordering in volume. Both are recorded here rather than reconciled.

What warranty does SourceIT provide?
