A Compute Unit and a Touch Controller — For a Room That Already Has Its A/V
This kit is a ThinkSmart Core and a ThinkSmart Controller, and nothing else. Lenovo sells this tier for rooms that already have their camera and their audio system installed, where what you are adding or replacing is the brain of the room and the thing people touch to start a meeting. The Core is a small, VESA-mountable computer that runs Microsoft Teams Rooms and drives the displays; the Controller is the 10.1-inch touch console that sits on the table. If your room already has its A/V, this is the efficient way to buy. If it does not, read the next section before you order anything.
There Is No Camera and No Microphone in This Box
We are putting this second because it is the thing most likely to go wrong. No camera. No microphone. No speaker. Lenovo's specification sheet has no camera, audio, speaker or microphone row for the Core at all — the only audio-adjacent feature on the unit is a 3.5 mm headphone and microphone jack. If the room does not already have a camera and an audio system, this kit cannot hold a meeting on its own. The Full Room Kit versions in the ordering table below are the ones that include the camera and the audio, and we would much rather sell you the right one now than take a return later.
The Memory Is 16 GB, Soldered — There Is No 8 GB Version
Lenovo publishes 16 GB of soldered DDR4-3200 memory, explicitly not upgradable, for this entire machine type. There is no 8 GB configuration of the ThinkSmart Core Gen 1 in Lenovo's specification sheet, and because the memory is soldered it cannot be increased after purchase either. If you have seen 8 GB quoted for this part number anywhere — including previously on this page — that figure was wrong and we have corrected it. The storage is a single drive: Lenovo's specification sheet says up to 256 GB SSD, and Lenovo's kit datasheet specifies a 256 GB PCIe TLC SSD.
Teams Is the Factory Image, and the Platform Licence Is a Separate Line
Lenovo builds the Teams and Zoom versions of this kit as separate machine types with separate factory images — 11LR for Microsoft Teams Rooms and 11LT for Zoom Rooms. A Teams part number is not a Zoom part number, and this is a Teams part number. Lenovo's own wording is that the device is “certified and preloaded with Microsoft Teams Rooms”. Note carefully that preloaded describes the software image, not the subscription: no Lenovo document states that the Microsoft Teams Rooms licence is included, so budget for it separately.

Compatibility & Fit
Read this first: what is not in this box
This kit contains a compute unit and a touch controller. It contains no camera, no microphone and no speaker. Lenovo's specification sheet has no camera or audio row for the Core; the camera and audio rows in that book belong to separate products — the ThinkSmart Cam, the ThinkSmart Bar and the ThinkSmart Bar 180 — which are sold in the higher kit tiers. This tier is sold for rooms that already have their audio-visual equipment.
The kit you probably want instead is the Full Room Kit. Lenovo's Full Room tier adds the camera and the audio, and both the Teams and Zoom versions are in the ordering table below. Send us the room and we will tell you which tier it needs.
Teams and Zoom are different part numbers, not a setting
Lenovo builds these as separate machine types with separate factory software images. The Core with Controller is 11LR for Microsoft Teams Rooms and 11LT for Zoom Rooms; the Hub Gen 2 is 11H1 for Teams and 11H3 for Zoom. A Teams SKU is not a Zoom SKU. Order the platform your organisation actually runs.
Lenovo publishes a support article describing a unified-communications swap feature between Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms using ThinkSmart Manager. We can confirm the article exists, but its body is not readable to us, so we make no claim about which models it covers, what licences it needs or what its limitations are. If that flexibility matters to you, ask us and we will get a written answer from Lenovo before you order.
Which controller, and how far from the compute unit
Lenovo's book documents two controllers for this family and does not say which one ships in this part number. The ThinkSmart Controller connects over USB-C and Lenovo states a 10 m USB-C cable is included with it. The Lenovo IP Controller is a different device: it connects over gigabit Ethernet and comes with a Link Box carrying power, RJ-45, HDMI-in, HDMI-out and USB-B, and it is wall mountable with mount kits sold separately. Two cautions on the IP Controller, because they are widely misquoted: Lenovo's specification sheet for this family does not contain the words Power over Ethernet, and does not publish a maximum cable distance. A 100 m figure appears only in Lenovo's marketing datasheet. If the table is a long way from where the Core will be mounted, talk to us before ordering.
Availability of the Gen 1 machine type
This is the Gen 1 ThinkSmart Core. Lenovo's PSREF product listing for this family appears under a title ending “(Withdrawn)” and Lenovo's own store shows the Core + Controller Kit as temporarily unavailable, which together indicate the machine type is at end of marketing. We could not confirm that from a Lenovo source we can read directly, so we are not stating it as fact — but if you are standardising a fleet, the Gen 2 kits in the ordering table are the current generation and the safer choice for a long deployment. Ask us for current lead times either way.
What you still need to supply
The display or displays, their wall mounting, the power and network drops, the camera and audio if the room does not already have them, and the Microsoft Teams Rooms platform licence. A room system is an installation, not just a box — send us the room dimensions, the table shape, where people sit and where the power and network drops are, and we will size it properly.

Lenovo specifies a 90 W autosensing adapter as the Core's power supply. Lenovo does not print a separate box-contents list for this kit beyond the compute unit and the controller, so we are quoting the adapter as a specification rather than asserting a packing list.
Not included: the display and its mounting, the camera, the audio system, and the Microsoft Teams Rooms platform licence. There is no camera and no audio in this kit — see the compatibility section above.

The specification sheet above is the authoritative document for the chassis, the ports, the controller and the base warranty; the kit datasheet is a marketing document and differs from it on the wireless card and on the service tier, both of which we have shown side by side rather than reconciled. Neither document contains a per-model table, so no Lenovo source states a bill of materials for 11LR0005SG specifically. Does this kit include a camera and a microphone?
No — neither, and no speaker either. This tier is the compute unit and the touch controller only. Lenovo's specification sheet has no camera or audio row for the Core at all. If the room does not already have its audio-visual equipment, you want a Full Room Kit, which adds the camera and the audio — they are in the ordering table above and we will happily quote one instead.
Is it 8 GB or 16 GB of memory?
16 GB, soldered and not upgradable. Lenovo publishes 16 GB soldered DDR4-3200 for this machine type and publishes no 8 GB configuration of it. An 8 GB figure previously appeared on this listing and was incorrect; it has been corrected. Because the memory is soldered, it also cannot be increased later.
What is the difference between the Controller and the IP Controller?
The same size of touch panel, connected differently. The ThinkSmart Controller plugs into the Core over USB-C, and Lenovo states a 10 m USB-C cable is included with it. The Lenovo IP Controller runs over gigabit Ethernet with a Link Box that adds power, RJ-45, HDMI-in, HDMI-out and USB-B, and it is wall mountable with mount kits sold separately. Lenovo's specification sheet for this family does not publish a Power over Ethernet claim or a maximum distance for the IP Controller — the 100 m figure often quoted comes from Lenovo's marketing datasheet only. Lenovo also does not publish which of the two controllers ships in this part number, so ask us to confirm before you plan the cable run.
