The HPE Networking CW 2050 24p 10/100/1000BT PoE+ 4p SFP 1G/2.5G 420W Switch (S6X72A) belongs to HPE's CW 2050 Switch Series, which HPE describes as the next-generation Layer 2 access switch for branch offices and small and medium-sized businesses. It provides 20 x 10/100/1000BASE-T PoE+ + 4 x 1G/2.5G BASE-T PoE++ + 4 x 1G/2.5G BASE-X SFP.
HPE rates this model at 80 Gbps switching capacity and 59.52 Mpps throughput, with four dedicated 1G/2.5G SFP uplinks for fibre or faster links back to the core.
Power over Ethernet for APs, Phones and Cameras
This model provides a 420 W PoE budget, with IEEE 802.3at PoE+ on the Gigabit ports and four PoE++ ports (HPE: up to 100 W per PoE++ port). That is enough to run Wi-Fi access points, IP phones and security cameras straight from the switch without separate power adapters.
Simple Management and Two-Switch IRF Stacking
Manage the switch through its Web GUI, the standard CLI or the embedded CW Dashboard at no additional cost, with HPE Intelligent Management Center (IMC), SNMP, Aruba AirWave and REST API also supported. Two switches can be stacked with Intelligent Resilient Fabric (IRF) for high availability and a single point of management.
Built-In Security and Enterprise Layer 2 Features
HPE lists secure boot, multi-layer ACLs, IEEE 802.1X authentication, encrypted access over SSHv2, SSL, SNMPv3 and TLS, and control plane policing for DoS protection. Layer 2 features include IEEE 802.1Q VLANs, STP/RSTP/MSTP/PVST+/RPVST+, link aggregation, IGMP and MLD snooping, LLDP and classifier-based QoS, plus static IPv4 and IPv6 routing.
