Gateway, Security and Wi-Fi Controller in One
The H3C WSG1840X combines gateway, security and wireless access controller (AC) functions in one 1U unit for SMB and SME networks, running H3C's Comware V7 platform.
64 APs Built In, Up to 128
64 AP licences are included by default — 64 ordinary APs or 128 wall-plate APs — with up to 128 managed APs. H3C rates wireless throughput at 4 Gbps.
Multi-Gig and 10G Uplinks
Alongside six Gigabit ports, a 2.5G/5GBASE-T port and a 10G SFP+ port give headroom for Wi-Fi 6 uplinks and a fibre core link.
VPN, Routing and Threat Protection
SSL, IPsec and L2TP VPN and GRE; static, RIP, OSPF and BGP routing; link load balancing; firewall with ACLs and ASPF, IPS, antivirus, URL filtering, DoS/DDoS protection and WIDS/WIPS.

Management
Per H3C's product page: web interface, CLI, Telnet and FTP for deployment, SNMP v1/v2/v3 and RMON for network management, plus cloud management. The gateway runs H3C's Comware V7 platform.
Supported Access Points
H3C lists these SMB APs as supported: WA6020, WA6120, WA6126, WA6120X, WA6120H, WA6022H and WA7130. Ordinary APs use 1 licence each and wall-plate APs use 0.5.
AP Licence Add-Ons
Extra AP capacity is added with H3C LIS-WX-1/4/8/16-SME-OVS licences, up to 128 managed APs.

Does the WSG1840X provide PoE?
H3C does not list PoE for the WSG1840X. If you need the gateway to power APs, look at the WSG1808X-PWR (80 W) or WSG1812X-PWR (150 W), or pair it with a PoE switch.
How many access points can it manage?
64 licences are built in (64 ordinary APs or 128 wall-plate APs). Up to 128 APs can be managed by adding LIS-WX-SME-OVS licences.
What is the 5GE port for?
It is a 2.5G/5GBASE-T autosensing LAN port, useful for a multi-gig uplink to a switch or Wi-Fi 6 AP.
Can it be rack mounted?
Yes. Mounting brackets are included.
