PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Cisco Catalyst 9200L 48-port PoE+ 4x1G, Network Advantage (C9200L-48P-4G-A) — Enhanced Limited Lifetime Warranty

48 PoE+ Access Ports with 1G Uplinks

The Cisco Catalyst 9200L C9200L-48P-4G-A is a fixed-configuration, stackable access switch with 48 10/100/1000 ports, all capable of full IEEE 802.3at PoE+ (up to 30W per port), and four fixed 1 Gigabit SFP uplinks. It runs Cisco IOS XE, the same operating system used across the Catalyst 9000 family, and ships with the perpetual Network Advantage licence (the "-A" in the part number).

740W PoE Budget, Expandable to 1440W

The switch ships with a single PWR-C5-1KWAC AC power supply, giving an available PoE budget of 740W. Adding a second PWR-C5-1KWAC raises the available PoE budget to 1440W. Cisco lists Perpetual PoE and Fast PoE for the Catalyst 9200 family: Perpetual PoE keeps power flowing to phones, cameras and access points while the switch reloads, and Fast PoE restores power after a power cycle without waiting for the operating system to finish booting.

StackWise-80 Stacking

Up to eight C9200L switches can be stacked with Cisco StackWise-80 for 80 Gbps of stack bandwidth and a single management plane. Stacking requires the optional C9200L-STACK-KIT and uses STACK-T4 stacking cables. Cisco notes that C9200L models cannot be mixed in a stack with modular C9200 models.

UADP 2.0 Mini Switching Performance

Built on the Cisco UADP 2.0 Mini ASIC with an integrated CPU, the C9200L-48P-4G delivers 104 Gbps of switching capacity and a 77.38 Mpps forwarding rate, with 2 GB DRAM, 4 GB flash, 16,000 MAC addresses and up to 11,000 IPv4 routes.

Network Advantage Licence

Network Advantage builds on Network Essentials with advanced routing, segmentation, multicast, scale and security capabilities. The Network licence is perpetual and is included with the hardware according to the part-number suffix. Cisco's ordering guide states that a Cisco DNA or Cisco Catalyst software subscription term licence (3, 5 or 7 years) is also mandatory at the time of purchase and must match the hardware tier, so an -A switch is paired with an Advantage subscription.

Managed On-Premises or from the Cloud

The C9200L can be managed on-premises with Cisco Catalyst Center (formerly Cisco DNA Center) or the IOS XE command line, and Cisco states that all Catalyst 9200L models are available for out-of-box cloud management with the Meraki dashboard.

Licensing

The C9200L-48P-4G-A includes the perpetual Network Advantage licence. Cisco's Catalyst 9200 ordering guide states that both the Network licence and a Cisco DNA or Cisco Catalyst software subscription licence are mandatory at the time of purchase, and that the term licence must align with the hardware suffix: Advantage for this -A model. Terms of 3, 5 or 7 years are offered, and the subscription is a separate part number from the switch. When the term expires, Cisco states that the add-on licence can be renewed, or deactivated and the switch reloaded to continue operating with the base licence capabilities.

Management Platforms

Supported management options include Cisco Catalyst Center on-premises, the Meraki dashboard for cloud management, and the Cisco IOS XE CLI.

Stacking Compatibility

Stack only with other Catalyst 9200L (C9200L) switches using the C9200L-STACK-KIT and STACK-T4 cables. Cisco does not support mixing C9200L models with modular C9200 models in one stack.

Transceivers

The 1G SFP uplink ports accept Cisco 1G SFP transceivers such as GLC-SX-MMD (multimode) and GLC-LH-SMD (single-mode). Confirm specific optics against the Cisco Optics Compatibility Matrix.

Warranty

Sold by SourceIT as a Singapore unit. Cisco states that the Catalyst 9200 Series is covered by the Cisco Enhanced Limited Lifetime hardware warranty in its data sheet. Keep your SourceIT invoice as proof of purchase for warranty claims.

Frequently Asked Questions — Cisco Catalyst 9200L C9200L-48P-4G-A

What is the PoE budget of the C9200L-48P-4G-A?

740W with the single PWR-C5-1KWAC power supply that ships with the switch, or 1440W with a second PWR-C5-1KWAC installed. Each port supports IEEE 802.3at PoE+ at up to 30W.

Is a Cisco DNA subscription required?

Yes. Cisco's ordering guide states that a Cisco DNA or Cisco Catalyst software subscription term licence (3, 5 or 7 years) is mandatory at the time of purchase and must match the hardware tier: Advantage for this -A model. It is a separate part number. The Network Advantage licence itself is perpetual, and the switch keeps its base licence capabilities if the term is not renewed.

What is the difference between -E and -A models?

The -E models include Network Essentials (foundational Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, automation, visibility and security). The -A models include Network Advantage, which adds advanced routing, segmentation, multicast, scale and security capabilities. The hardware is otherwise the same.

Can I stack the C9200L with a Catalyst 9200 (non-L) switch?

No. Cisco does not support mixed stacking between C9200L and modular C9200 models. C9200L switches stack with each other, up to eight members, using the optional C9200L-STACK-KIT and STACK-T4 cables.

Are the uplinks 1G or 10G?

This model has four fixed 1 Gigabit SFP uplinks. For 10G uplinks, choose the matching -4X variant.
