PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Cisco Catalyst 9200L 48-port PoE+, 4 x 1G, Network Essentials (C9200L-48P-4G-E) — Local Warranty

48 PoE+ Access Ports with Fixed 1G Uplinks

The Cisco Catalyst 9200L C9200L-48P-4G-E is a fixed-configuration, stackable access switch with 48 10/100/1000 ports, all capable of full IEEE 802.3at PoE+ (up to 30W per port), and four fixed 1 Gigabit SFP uplinks. It runs Cisco IOS XE, the same operating system used across the Catalyst 9000 family, and ships with the Network Essentials licence (the "-E" in the part number).

740W PoE Budget, Expandable to 1440W

The switch ships with a single PWR-C5-1KWAC 1000W AC power supply, giving an available PoE budget of 740W. Adding a second PWR-C5-1KWAC raises the available PoE budget to 1440W, which is enough to run all 48 ports at the full 30W PoE+ class. A DC supply, PWR-C5-715WDC, is also available as a spare from Cisco IOS XE 17.8.1. Cisco lists Perpetual PoE for the Catalyst 9200 family, which keeps PoE+ power flowing to phones, cameras and access points while the switch reloads.

StackWise-80 Stacking

Up to eight C9200L switches can be stacked with Cisco StackWise-80 for 80 Gbps of stack bandwidth and a single management plane. Stacking requires the optional C9200L-STACK-KIT (two stack adapters plus a cable) and uses STACK-T4 stacking cables in 50 cm, 1 m or 3 m lengths. Cisco notes that C9200L models cannot be mixed in a stack with modular C9200 models, because the two use different stacking bandwidths.

UADP 2.0 Mini Switching Performance

Built on the Cisco UADP 2.0 Mini ASIC with an integrated CPU, the C9200L-48P-4G delivers 104 Gbps of switching capacity and a 77.38 Mpps forwarding rate, with 2 GB DRAM, 4 GB flash, 16,000 MAC addresses and up to 11,000 IPv4 routes. Jumbo frames up to 9198 bytes are supported.

Network Essentials Licence

Network Essentials provides foundational Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, automation, visibility and security features. Cisco also offers Network Advantage (advanced routing, segmentation, multicast and scale) and add-on Cisco DNA / Cisco Networking Subscription term licences for Catalyst Center automation and assurance. Cisco states that base switch operation continues after an add-on term licence expires.

Managed On-Premises or from the Cloud

The C9200L can be managed on-premises with Cisco Catalyst Center (formerly Cisco DNA Center), through the IOS XE command line and model-driven programmability, or from the cloud: Cisco states that C9200L models support out-of-box cloud management with the Meraki dashboard. Trustworthy-system features including image signing, Secure Boot and the Cisco Trust Anchor module are built in.

Licensing

The C9200L-48P-4G-E includes the Network Essentials licence. Network Advantage, and Cisco DNA / Cisco Networking Subscription term licences (Essentials or Advantage, offered in multi-year terms), are ordered separately where Catalyst Center automation, assurance or the advanced feature set is needed. Cisco states that base switch operation continues if an add-on term licence lapses.

Management Platforms

Supported management options include Cisco Catalyst Center (formerly Cisco DNA Center) on-premises, the Meraki dashboard for cloud management or monitoring, and the Cisco IOS XE CLI with model-driven programmability and streaming telemetry.

Stacking Compatibility

Stack only with other Catalyst 9200L (C9200L) switches using the C9200L-STACK-KIT and STACK-T4 cables. Cisco does not support mixing C9200L fixed-uplink models with modular C9200 models in one stack. Within the C9200L line, PoE, data and Multigigabit variants can be mixed.

Transceivers

The four uplink ports accept Cisco 1G SFP transceivers such as GLC-SX-MMD (multimode) and GLC-LH-SMD (single-mode). Confirm specific optics against the Cisco Optics Compatibility Matrix.

Lifecycle Status

As of October 2026, Cisco's Catalyst 9200 Series End-of-Life notice listing shows software-release and licence notices only, with no End-of-Sale announcement for the C9200L-48P-4G switch hardware.

Warranty

Frequently Asked Questions — Cisco Catalyst 9200L C9200L-48P-4G-E

What is the PoE budget of the C9200L-48P-4G-E?

740W with the single PWR-C5-1KWAC power supply that ships with the switch, or 1440W with a second PWR-C5-1KWAC installed. Each port supports IEEE 802.3at PoE+ at up to 30W.

Can I stack the C9200L with a Catalyst 9200 (non-L) switch?

No. Cisco does not support mixed stacking between fixed-uplink C9200L models and modular C9200 models. C9200L switches stack with each other only, up to eight members, using the C9200L-STACK-KIT and STACK-T4 cables.

Is the stacking kit included?

No. The C9200L-STACK-KIT is optional and contains two stack adapters and one stacking cable. Additional STACK-T4 cables (50 cm, 1 m, 3 m) are available separately.

Are the uplinks 1G or 10G?

This model has four fixed 1 Gigabit SFP uplinks. If you need 10G uplinks, the C9200L-48P-4X-E variant has four 10G SFP+ uplinks.

Can it be managed from the Meraki dashboard?

Cisco states that C9200L models support out-of-box cloud management with the Meraki dashboard, in addition to on-premises management with Cisco Catalyst Center and the IOS XE CLI.

Are the fans or uplinks field-replaceable?

No. On the C9200L the fans are fixed and redundant, and the uplinks are fixed. The power supply bays accept field-replaceable PWR-C5 supplies.
