APC Replacement Battery Cartridge #13
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
APC Replacement Battery Cartridge #13 (RBC13) - 2 Years Local Warranty
RBC13 Datasheet: 12 V 70 Ah Blocks for the 48 V Smart-UPS Battery Pack
Schneider describes the RBC13 in its own catalogue as a "12V 70AH replaceable battery for APC Smart-UPS Battery Pack" — note battery pack, not UPS. Its home is the UXBP48 and UXABP48 external packs, officially named "APC Smart-UPS Battery Pack 48V, 3360VAh".
The arithmetic is clean and worth showing: 3360 VAh divided by 48 V gives 70 Ah, and 48 V divided by 12 V gives four blocks. So a full pack is four RBC13 blocks, each 27.18 kg, in a 208 x 165 x 259 mm case.
This is a legacy APC part number. The systems it serves were sold through the late 1990s and 2000s and many are long out of production, but a great deal of that equipment is still running in Singapore plant rooms and comms cabinets, and it still needs batteries. That installed base is exactly why we stock this cartridge.
Read This Before Ordering: One Block or Four?
We would rather raise this than let it surprise you at goods-receipt. Schneider's data sheet for the RBC13 publishes a net weight of 27.18 kg, which is one block, alongside a packaging weight of 112.73 kg in a 508 x 394 x 693 mm carton, which is four blocks plus packaging. Those two fields describe different things, and Schneider does not state which one the commercial reference is invoiced against.
So before you order, tell us whether you need a single block or a full four-block pack refill, and we will confirm the supplied quantity with the distributor and quote it explicitly. A pack refill is over 108 kg of battery and needs planning; a single block does not. Nobody benefits from discovering the difference on a loading bay.
Refilling a Legacy Pack Behind a 230 V Smart-UPS
External battery packs sit on the DC side of the UPS, which means they are not tied to 120 V or 230 V mains. A UXBP48 behind a 230 V Smart-UPS in a Singapore comms room takes exactly the same blocks as one anywhere else. The pack was discontinued in June 2022, which is precisely why replacement cells are still in demand — the hardware outlives its batteries several times over.
Singapore is hard on lead-acid batteries. Ambient temperature sits near the top of the useful band all year, and every few degrees of sustained heat shortens a sealed lead-acid battery's service life measurably. A comms cabinet or riser room that runs warm will age a cartridge faster than an air-conditioned server room will. Plan replacement on the calendar instead of waiting for the UPS to fail its self-test, and keep the unit out of direct sun and clear of the warm-air discharge from whatever it is protecting.
Genuine APC Supply, GST-Invoiced, from Singapore Stock
SourceIT supplies the RBC13 as genuine APC by Schneider Electric stock, sold in Singapore with a GST invoice and local warranty support. We hold this part on the shelf instead of ordering it in, so a failed UPS does not have to wait on a shipment. If you are not certain which cartridge your unit takes, send us the model number printed on the UPS rear panel and we will confirm it against Schneider's documentation before you buy.
Schneider Electric does not publish a UL listing or a CE marking for this cartridge, and we do not claim either. What Schneider does publish is a REACh declaration and a RoHS position, and those are reproduced in the specification table exactly as written.

The quantity question, stated plainly. Schneider's 27.18 kg net weight describes one 12 V 70 Ah block. Its 112.73 kg packaged weight, in a carton large enough for four such blocks side by side, describes a set. Schneider does not say which the commercial reference ships as. We have published both figures rather than choose, and we will confirm the supplied quantity with the distributor against your order. Schneider publishes no charge time for a replacement cartridge. Recharge time is a property of the UPS that charges it, not of the battery tray, so look it up on your UPS model, not here.
Compatibility & Runtime
What the RBC13 fits
- UXBP48 and UXABP48 — APC Smart-UPS Battery Pack, 48 V, 3360 VAh. Confirmed by identity: the pack's own published rating divides exactly into four 12 V 70 Ah blocks. Both packs were discontinued in June 2022.
Because these are DC-side battery packs, they are not tied to a mains voltage. The same block serves a pack behind a 230 V Smart-UPS in Singapore and a 120 V one elsewhere.
Aftermarket lists also name the APC Matrix-UPS 3000XR and MX3000XR against this part. We have found no Schneider document supporting that and do not publish it. For Matrix-UPS systems the documented cartridge is RBC14.
The same block also carries the part number APCRBC119
Schneider publishes an identical physical record for APCRBC119 — the same 208 x 165 x 259 mm case, the same 27.18 kg net weight, the same 112.73 kg carton, the same 195 kg CO2 figure, and the same 48 V Smart-UPS battery pack as its host. On the evidence available these are the same 12 V 70 Ah monobloc under two commercial references. We tell you rather than quietly pick one: if your maintenance records name one and your quotation the other, that is very probably not a mistake. Ask us to confirm against your pack.
Runtime
Runtime belongs to the UPS and its load, not to a battery block. Fresh blocks restore the pack to its rated runtime; they cannot exceed it. Replace the whole set together and from one batch — a new block among three aged ones is pulled down to the condition of the oldest within months.
The cartridge arrives assembled with its connectors already fitted. Schneider ships an installation guide in the box and that guide, not this page, is the authority on how the swap is done on your particular battery pack and whether it can be done with the unit running. Read it before you start, and keep the old cartridge intact for recycling.
Sealed lead-acid cartridges must not go into general waste in Singapore. Bring the exhausted cartridge back to us with the replacement and we can arrange collection through a licensed recycler, or dispose of it through your own NEA-licensed collector.

Frequently Asked Questions — APC RBC13
Does the RBC13 ship as one block or as a set of four?
Schneider does not say, and we would rather flag it than guess. Its data sheet publishes a 27.18 kg net weight, which is one 12 V 70 Ah block, and a 112.73 kg packaged weight in a carton sized for four. Tell us whether you need a single block or a full pack refill and we will confirm the supplied quantity with the distributor and quote it explicitly.
Is it a UPS cartridge?
No. Schneider's own description is "replaceable battery for APC Smart-UPS Battery Pack". It goes inside the UXBP48 or UXABP48 external pack, not into the front of a UPS. If you need a cartridge for the UPS itself, send us the UPS model and we will point you at the right part.
How does 12 V 70 Ah make a 48 V pack?
Four blocks in series. The pack's official name is "Smart-UPS Battery Pack 48V, 3360VAh", and 3360 VAh divided by 48 V gives exactly 70 Ah per block while 48 V divided by 12 V gives four. The arithmetic closes on both axes, which is what makes this one of the better-evidenced parts in the legacy range.
Why does this part look identical to the APCRBC119?
Because on the evidence available it is the same block. Schneider publishes the same case size, the same 27.18 kg net weight, the same carton, the same carbon figure and the same host pack for both part numbers. We publish that observation rather than picking one, so that a mismatch between your records and your quotation does not look like an error.
Will it work with a 230 V Smart-UPS in Singapore?
Yes. External battery packs connect on the DC side of the UPS, so they are not tied to a mains voltage. The same block serves a pack behind a 230 V unit here and a 120 V one elsewhere.
Can I fit it myself?
The block ships ready to fit and the installation documentation in the carton is the authority on the procedure for your pack. We do not publish a hot-swap claim for this part because Schneider does not publish one. At 27 kg a block, plan the handling and the removal of the old cells before you start.
Does it come with a local Singapore warranty?
Yes. Every APC RBC13 sold by SourceIT comes with local Singapore warranty and a GST invoice; APC backs the RBC13 with a 2-year manufacturer warranty.
