RBC12 Datasheet: a 48 V Two-Cell Replacement Battery Set
The RBC12 is one of the few cartridges in the APC legacy range where Schneider fills in the voltage field outright. Its data sheet states 48 V as the cartridge rating — not a per-block figure, the cartridge — and describes the part in Schneider's own words as "composed of two seperate battery cells".
At 20.00 kg net across eight 12 V 7.5 Ah blocks, this is a substantial two-cell set built for the larger 3U Smart-UPS rack systems of its generation.
This is a legacy APC part number. The systems it serves were sold through the late 1990s and 2000s and many are long out of production, but a great deal of that equipment is still running in Singapore plant rooms and comms cabinets, and it still needs batteries. That installed base is exactly why we stock this cartridge.
The 48 V Figure Is Published, and It Overrides What You May Read Elsewhere
Distributor catalogues are inconsistent on this part. At least one major one lists the RBC12 as "24 Vdc, 7 Ah". That contradicts Schneider's own data sheet, which gives 48 V, and it contradicts the physics: at 20.00 kg the tray holds eight 12 V 7 Ah class blocks, each around 2.5 kg. A 24 V 7 Ah cartridge would weigh about a quarter of that.
Where a manufacturer document and a catalogue disagree, we publish the manufacturer document and tell you the catalogue exists. The eight blocks arranged at 48 V work out as two parallel strings of four, which is a derived reading rather than a Schneider statement — so we give you the 48 V that Schneider publishes and leave the string arrangement labelled as our arithmetic.
Twenty Kilograms of Battery for a Legacy Rack
Weight matters more than buyers expect on this range. A sealed lead-acid tray is dense, and the figure below is Schneider's own published net weight, not an estimate. Schneider publishes 20.00 kg net and 22.86 kg shipping for the RBC12, in a carton measuring 229 x 394 x 572 mm. Plan the delivery and the lift accordingly, and plan for the old set to leave the same way.
Singapore is hard on lead-acid batteries. Ambient temperature sits near the top of the useful band all year, and every few degrees of sustained heat shortens a sealed lead-acid battery's service life measurably. A comms cabinet or riser room that runs warm will age a cartridge faster than an air-conditioned server room will. Plan replacement on the calendar instead of waiting for the UPS to fail its self-test, and keep the unit out of direct sun and clear of the warm-air discharge from whatever it is protecting.

No UL listing and no CE marking appears in any Schneider document for this part, so we do not claim either. Schneider publishes no charge time for a replacement cartridge. Recharge time is a property of the UPS that charges it, not of the battery tray, so look it up on your UPS model, not here.
Compatibility & Runtime
What the RBC12 fits
What Schneider confirms is the electrical description: a 48 V system. No Schneider document we could obtain names the host UPS models against this cartridge by part number, and we will not publish a compatibility list we cannot source.
What we can tell you honestly is the shape of the answer. The RBC12 belongs to the generation of 3U Smart-UPS rack systems. Aftermarket cross-references consistently name the SU2200RM3U and SU3000RM3U, which are 120 V units, and the SU3000RMI3U, which is the 230 V build and therefore the one relevant to a Singapore installation. We have verified that SU3000RMI3U exists as a genuine Schneider product — it was discontinued in June 2022 — but we have not found a Schneider document tying it to this cartridge, so we present it as the likely fit rather than a confirmed one.
Schneider's "UPS to RBC Cross Reference List" is the document that would settle this. Its landing page is linked below; the file itself sits on a download host that has repeatedly returned the wrong model's document, so we do not link it directly. Send us your UPS model number and we will confirm the cartridge with the distributor before you order.
Ignore the 24 V figure you may find in catalogues
At least one major distributor lists the RBC12 as 24 V, 7 Ah. Schneider's own data sheet states 48 V, and the 20.00 kg net weight rules out a 24 V 7 Ah part by a factor of about four. Where a catalogue and the manufacturer disagree, take the manufacturer.
Runtime
A fresh set restores the system to the runtime it was rated for at a given load; it does not extend it. Replace all blocks together and from one batch.
The cartridge arrives assembled with its connectors already fitted. Schneider ships an installation guide in the box and that guide, not this page, is the authority on how the swap is done on your particular system and whether it can be done with the unit running. Read it before you start, and keep the old cartridge intact for recycling.
Sealed lead-acid cartridges must not go into general waste in Singapore. Bring the exhausted cartridge back to us with the replacement and we can arrange collection through a licensed recycler, or dispose of it through your own NEA-licensed collector.
