APC BV500I-MS — 500 VA / 300 W of battery backup and AVR for Singapore's 230 V mains
The APC BV500I-MS is a line-interactive UPS with AVR, rated 500 VA / 300 W at 230 V, built for the way Singapore's supply actually behaves. Our grid is reliable but not flat: PUB-fed 230 V / 50 Hz mains sags during afternoon storms, and switching events in an older building push the voltage around enough to reboot a desktop or corrupt a file mid-save. Automatic Voltage Regulation corrects those high and low excursions using the transformer rather than the battery, so the unit rides out routine brownouts without spending a charge cycle — and only switches to battery, in 6 ms typical, 10 ms maximum, when the supply genuinely fails.
