APC BR650G2I 650 VA / 400 W Line-Interactive UPS for Singapore's 230V / 50Hz Mains
The APC BR650G2I is the current-generation Back-UPS Pro BR (G2) tower UPS: 650 VA / 400 W, line-interactive with Automatic Voltage Regulation, built for 230 V supplies like Singapore's. AVR corrects high and low mains voltage without dropping to battery, so the battery is not cycled every time the supply wanders, and the unit rides through the dips and short interruptions that follow an afternoon thunderstorm. It replaces the previous-generation BR650MI.
Six IEC C13 Outlets — Four on Battery, Two Surge-Only
The rear panel carries 6 x IEC 60320 C13 outlets: 4 with battery backup and surge protection and 2 with surge protection only. Put the PC, NAS, router and switch on the battery side and the printer, speakers or monitor you can afford to lose on the surge-only pair. A 1 Gb RJ45 data-line in/out pair protects a network cable from surges too.
LCD Status Ring and USB-C Charging Up Front
The front LCD shows load and battery level as circle graphs, so you can read how hard the UPS is working at a glance, and a dedicated button mutes the audible alarm. Two USB Type-C ports on the front charge a phone or tablet. On battery the output is a stepped approximation to a sinewave — fine for most desktops, routers, switches, NVRs and POS gear; if your load has a fussy active-PFC power supply, ask us about the sine-wave BR1600SI instead.
Battery Life in a Humid Climate
The battery is a sealed lead-acid cartridge rated 108 VAh with a 3 to 5 year expected life and an 8-hour typical recharge. Singapore's heat and humidity are hard on lead-acid cells, so plan the change inside that window; the replacement part is APCRBC164. The tower measures 190 mm (H) x 91 mm (W) x 310 mm (D) and weighs 6.4 kg. Everything SourceIT ships is local Singapore stock with a GST invoice and local warranty support.

Compatibility & Runtime
What you can plug in
All six outlets are IEC 60320 C13, so a standard C13 kettle lead connects a PC, monitor, switch, router or NAS directly. Four are battery-backed and two are surge-only — check which side each device is on. The UPS draws from a normal 13 A wall socket through its C14 inlet; no dedicated circuit needed.
Sizing it
Size against the watts: 400 W real power is the figure that runs out first on modern IT loads. Keep the battery-side load under about 70% of 400 W for headroom. Schneider does not print a runtime table on the data sheet, so we do not quote minutes here — send us your load in watts and we will calculate it against the 108 VAh battery.
Battery and replacement cartridge
The APC replacement cartridge is APCRBC164, stocked by SourceIT. It is user-replaceable; plan a short shutdown for the swap.
Rack space and network management
This is a tower unit with no rail-kit option and no SmartSlot, so an AP9640 or AP9641 Network Management Card cannot be fitted. For rack-mount or SNMP-managed protection, ask us about the APC Smart-UPS SMT, SMC and SMX ranges.

Frequently Asked Questions — APC BR650G2I
What is the difference between 650 VA and 400 W?
650 VA is apparent power and 400 W is real power. Your equipment consumes real power, so 400 W limits what you can connect. Add up nameplate watts on the battery-backed side and keep the total comfortably below 400 W.
Are all six outlets battery-backed?
No. Four outlets give battery backup plus surge protection; the other two give surge protection only and switch off in a power cut. The two groups are marked on the rear panel.
Is the output a pure sine wave?
No — it is a stepped approximation to a sinewave on battery, per the Schneider data sheet. That suits most desktops, routers, switches, NVRs and POS gear; for active-PFC loads, ask us about a sine-wave model.
Which replacement battery does it take?
APCRBC164, stocked here: APCRBC164. It is user-replaceable. Expect three to five years in an air-conditioned office, less in a hot comms cupboard.
What changed from the BR650MI?
The BR650G2I is Schneider's replacement for the BR650MI: same 190 x 91 x 310 mm tower footprint, now with a 4 + 2 battery/surge outlet split, 1 Gb data-line protection, 1080 J surge rating, an 8-hour recharge and the APCRBC164 cartridge plus an LCD ring display and two USB-C charging ports.
Does it come with a Singapore warranty and GST invoice?
Yes. SourceIT supplies local Singapore stock with a GST invoice and local warranty support; Schneider's data sheet states 24 months on the UPS and 24 months on the battery.
