Yealink BH70 vs BH74 vs BH78: Which One Should Your Company Actually Buy?
Most companies should buy all three, for different people. Put the Yealink BH70 MS (S$140.40 mono, S$166.05 stereo) on desks in quieter areas and for front-line callers, make the Yealink BH74 MS (S$186.30, or S$197.10 with stand) the standard issue for open-plan knowledge workers, and keep the over-ear Yealink BH78 MS (S$318.60 with charging base) for managers, travellers and the heaviest meeting loads. Prices as listed at SourceIT on 24 Oct 2026. This guide is about choosing by user profile and budget; for every spec side by side, including the earhook BH71, see our Yealink BH70 vs BH71 vs BH74 vs BH78 comparison.
The short version: which Yealink headset for whom?
| User profile | Recommended model | Why | Price per seat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reception, helpdesk, admin in quieter areas | BH70 MS Mono | Light (91 g), one ear open, up to 35 h talk | S$140.40 |
| Office staff who want stereo but work in calm areas | BH70 MS Stereo | Two-ear audio for long calls, no ANC needed | S$166.05 |
| Open-plan knowledge workers | BH74 MS | Hybrid ANC, Teams Premium Open Office (per Yealink), 152 g | S$186.30 |
| Hot desks and shared stations | BH74 MS with Stand | Always charged, easy to find | S$197.10 |
| Managers, consultants, frequent travellers | BH78 MS with Stand | Over-ear, ANC up to 35 dB, up to 38 h talk, 3.5 mm cable | S$318.60 |
Do your users actually need ANC?
This is the main decision, and it separates the BH70 from the other two. The BH70 has three microphones with Acoustic Shield on a boom, which keeps your voice clear to the caller, but no active noise cancellation, so the user still hears the room. The BH74 adds hybrid ANC, and the BH78 adds Adaptive Hybrid ANC rated at up to 35 dB with Ambient Sound and Adaptive modes. A simple test: if staff often say "sorry, can you repeat that" because of noise on their side, they need ANC. If complaints are about how they sound to others, a good boom microphone (all three have one) and the supplied dongle fix most of it. The difference between the BH70 stereo and the BH74 is only S$20.25, so for any open-plan seat the BH74 is usually the better spend.
On-ear or over-ear?
The BH70 and BH74 are on-ear, light (147 g and 152 g in stereo) and cooler to wear through a long day in an air-conditioned office. The BH78 is over-ear at 245 g; it seals better and isolates more, which suits long meeting blocks, flights and noisy homes, but some users find over-ear warmer. For a fleet, issue on-ear by default and over-ear on request.
Standardise the floor on one model, keep a small pool of premium headsets, and your spares, training and helpdesk stay simple.
What does a mixed fleet cost?
A labelled example for a 100-person office at listed prices on 24 Oct 2026:
| Option | Mix | Total |
|---|---|---|
| Mixed fleet | 60 x BH70 MS Mono (S$8,424.00) + 30 x BH74 MS (S$5,589.00) + 10 x BH78 MS (S$3,186.00) | S$17,199.00 |
| All BH74 | 100 x BH74 MS | S$18,630.00 |
| All BH78 | 100 x BH78 MS with stand | S$31,860.00 |
The mixed fleet costs S$1,431.00 less than an all-BH74 fleet and gives premium headsets to the people who use them most. Volume pricing changes all three totals, so request a quote.
Teams or UC version?
Microsoft lists the BH70, BH74 and BH78 among devices Certified for Microsoft Teams. The MS variants add a dedicated Teams button that joins meetings and shows presence through the busylight, and they are the versions SourceIT currently lists for these three models. If your company is on Zoom, Webex or a SIP softphone, ask us about UC variants before ordering, and keep the fleet consistent. See also the Teams certified headsets collection.
Deployment checklist for IT
- Use the dongle for PCs. The BT51-family dongle in the box gives each headset its own radio and the rated 50 m range. Laptop Bluetooth is for mobiles. Our guide Why Your Expensive Bluetooth Headset Sounds Terrible on Teams explains why.
- Label dongles to headsets. Keep each dongle with the headset it was supplied with; a mixed-up drawer of dongles means re-pairing and helpdesk tickets.
- Multipoint. All three keep two active connections and remember eight devices, so PC plus mobile works out of the box.
- Charging. The charging stand for BH70 is S$25.00; the BH74 has a stand bundle at S$197.10; the BH78 includes its base.
- Spares. Hold spare BH70 ear cushions (S$26.50 a pair) for shared desks.
- Management. Yealink's device management platform lets IT manage headsets alongside Yealink phones and video bars.
