Specs come from Jabra's and Yealink's product pages and tech-spec tables; battery figures are vendor ratings.

Which isolates noise better for executives and hybrid workers?

Both are closed over-ear designs with adaptive hybrid ANC, the right shape for an open office, an airport lounge or a noisy home. Yealink publishes a figure, up to 35 dB of reduction, and offers three modes including Ambient Sound for hearing a colleague without taking the headset off. Jabra does not publish a dB figure for the Evolve3 85, but notes that its Advanced ANC keeps working during calls and adds wind noise reduction for calls taken outdoors. In practice both remove the hum of air-conditioning and open-office chatter well; the BH78's published number is the one you can put in a procurement comparison.

Which makes you sound better on a call?

The BH78 hides a flexible boom in the earcup. Pull it out in a noisy room and you get a microphone close to your mouth, backed by AI noise cancellation that Yealink says removes up to 98 per cent of background distraction. The Evolve3 85 has no boom at all; Jabra relies on six microphones and ClearVoice, claiming 96 per cent word accuracy across its test environments and 99 per cent in open offices. For an executive who sits on camera in board calls, the boomless Jabra looks tidier. For someone who takes calls on the move, the BH78's boom is a useful extra when the background gets loud.

On a spec sheet, the BH78 wins on battery, range and price. In the boardroom camera shot, the Evolve3 85 wins on looks. Know which one your buyer is judging.

Is the extra weight of the BH78 noticeable?

The Evolve3 85 weighs 220 g and the BH78 245 g, a 25 g difference. Jabra says the Evolve3 85 is 35 per cent slimmer and 23 per cent lighter than the Evolve2 85 it replaces, which at 286 g was a heavy headset. For long meeting days, a lighter over-ear makes a difference after hour four. Both have soft cushions; try both if your executive is sensitive to clamping pressure.

Which is better for travel?

Both include a 3.5 mm cable for in-flight entertainment. The Evolve3 85 folds and charges wirelessly, and its battery can be replaced as a spare part. The BH78 has the longer talk time (up to 38 hours against 25) and the faster full charge, and Yealink rates its range at 50 m against Jabra's 30 m. Frequent flyers with a Qi charger at home will like the Jabra; people who forget to charge will like the Yealink.

Premium sound without the premium price: the verdict

Choose the Yealink BH78 MS with charging base when you want the most battery, a published ANC figure and a boom microphone on standby, at S$318.60. Choose the Jabra Evolve3 85 MS with wireless charging pad when appearance on camera, weight, wireless charging and a long service life with a replaceable battery justify S$177.00 more.
