ASUS ProArt vs BenQ DesignVue: Which Brand Understands Creators Better?
Both understand creators well; they simply emphasise different things. ASUS ProArt leans on broad colour-space coverage, Calman Verified factory calibration, hardware calibration through its free ProArt Calibration software, and at the top end self-calibrating Mini-LED and QD-OLED models. BenQ's designer monitors, sold for years as DesignVue and now grouped on BenQ Singapore's site under "Creative Pro", lean on Mac-friendly features such as M-Book mode, AQCOLOR uniformity and accuracy tuning, and, on newer models like the PD2770U, a built-in calibration sensor. At the popular 27-inch 4K level, the ASUS ProArt PA279CRV costs S$779 and the BenQ PD2706U S$849 at SourceIT; BenQ's self-calibrating PD2770U is S$2,999 (listed 30 Oct 2026). The better brand is the one whose features match your workflow and computer.
A note on BenQ's naming
BenQ's PD-series designer monitors were marketed as DesignVue. On BenQ Singapore's site the colour-critical range is now presented as "Creative Pro", with DesignVue mentioned only in a footnote. The model numbers, PD2706U, PD2730S, PD2770U, PD3226G and others, are unchanged, so we refer to them by model. BenQ's separate PhotoVue SW series targets photographers.

What do independent measurements show?
- ASUS PA279CRV: Display Ninja (Oct 2025) measured 97.8% Adobe RGB and 96.5% DCI-P3, with an average ΔE of 0.58 in the Adobe RGB and DCI-P3 presets.
- BenQ PD2770U: Digital Camera World (Mar 2026) measured 99% Adobe RGB and 97% P3, ΔE 1.58 out of the box and 0.97 after calibration, with only 4% brightness variation when uniformity mode was on; that mode cut maximum brightness from 367 to 286 nits.
- BenQ PD2730S: Tom's Guide (May 2026) measured 98.3% DCI-P3 but reported an unusually low ΔE figure that we do not rely on; it noted the lack of an Adobe RGB mode.

ASUS sells colour coverage and calibration tools. BenQ sells consistency and Mac comfort. The right choice depends on your output and your computer.
Which features matter for which creator?
- Mac users: BenQ's M-Book mode adjusts gamma, contrast and colour temperature to match a MacBook Pro's screen, which BenQ notes is hard to match exactly. The 5K PD2730S also matches macOS's preferred 218 ppi density.
- Print photographers: look for Adobe RGB. The PA279CRV and PD2770U cover it; Tom's Guide noted the PD2730S has no Adobe RGB mode.
- Hands-off accuracy: built-in calibration sensors (BenQ PD2770U; ASUS's higher-end ProArt models) recalibrate without an external device.
- Budget-conscious designers: the PA279CRV delivers measured accuracy and wide gamut at the lowest price here.
- Video and motion: the PD3226G's 144Hz helps smooth motion; HDR grading needs a Mini-LED model such as the ProArt PA32UCX.
What about software and calibration?
ASUS ProArt Calibration is free for Mac and Windows, supports X-Rite, Datacolor and Klein meters, and stores profiles inside the monitor. BenQ's calibration-equipped models also write to the monitor's internal tables. BenQ's guide explains the difference: software calibration adjusts the graphics card's output and cannot widen the gamut, while hardware calibration adjusts the monitor itself and is more accurate.
