The PD2730S is a DesignVue monitor, so colour accuracy leads the specification. Average Delta E is rated at 2 or lower and each unit ships with its own factory calibration report, which is the difference between a panel that claims accuracy and one that has been measured. Coverage runs to 100% sRGB, 100% Rec.709 and 98% Display P3 over 1.07 billion colours — enough for a design to move between web delivery, broadcast and Apple-device viewing without changing character.
5K Resolution at 218 PPI on a 27-Inch Panel
At 5120 x 2880 the PD2730S puts 218 pixels per inch on a 27-inch screen. Type renders with the crispness a Retina MacBook gives, vector edges stop showing their stair-steps at working zoom, and a 4K timeline fits on screen with room around it for tool palettes. For UI design, print layout and retouching — work judged at 100% — the extra pixels do more for the result than a larger 4K panel would.
2000:1 Native Contrast and DisplayHDR 400
Native contrast is 2000:1, roughly double the usual IPS figure, at 400 nits with HDR10 and VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification. Dark interface panels, shadow areas in product photography and graded footage keep their separation instead of collapsing into a single grey. The Nano Matte coating diffuses ceiling lighting without the sparkle coarser anti-glare finishes add to fine type, which keeps the panel usable on a bright open-plan floor.
Thunderbolt 4 Docking, Hotkey Puck G3 and a 150 mm Stand
One Thunderbolt 4 cable carries 5K video, 40 Gbps of data and 90W of charging to a MacBook Pro or a Thunderbolt Windows laptop, with a downstream Thunderbolt port for daisy-chaining and HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 inputs for a workstation. The supplied Hotkey Puck G3 switches colour modes from the desk. The stand travels 150 mm, swivels 30 degrees each way and pivots 90 degrees, with VESA 100 x 100 mm mounting for arms.

What it connects to
The Thunderbolt 4 port docks a MacBook Pro, Mac mini, Mac Studio or Thunderbolt Windows laptop with one cable for 5K video, 40 Gbps data and 90W of charging. HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 inputs take a desktop workstation or a second machine. Driving 5120 x 2880 is a Thunderbolt or DisplayPort task, so use those inputs where full resolution matters.
Daisy-chaining
A downstream Thunderbolt 4 port carries a second display or Thunderbolt storage from the same host connection.
Colour management workflow
Every unit ships with a calibration report and is rated to an average Delta E of 2 or lower across 100% sRGB, 100% Rec.709 and 98% Display P3. The supplied Hotkey Puck G3 switches colour modes without going into the on-screen menu.
Mounting and orientation

What does Delta E ≤ 2 mean for design sign-off?
Delta E is the measured gap between the colour a file specifies and the colour the panel displays. An average of 2 or lower sits at the limit of what most people can distinguish side by side, so a client approval on screen is meaningful. Each PD2730S ships with its own calibration report recording the measurement for that unit.
Why 5K rather than 4K?
At 27 inches, 5K gives 218 PPI against 163 PPI for 4K. Type, vector edges and fine retouching detail are visibly cleaner, and macOS maps 5K to its default scaling exactly. If you want more desktop area rather than more density, a 31.5-inch 4K panel such as the PD3226G is the alternative.
Which colour spaces does it cover?

Will one Thunderbolt cable run and charge my laptop?
Yes. The Thunderbolt 4 upstream port carries 5K video, 40 Gbps data and 90W of Power Delivery. A downstream Thunderbolt 4 port is provided for daisy-chaining a second display or a Thunderbolt drive.
Is 2000:1 contrast meaningful on an IPS panel?
Yes — it is roughly double the typical IPS figure. In practice dark UI panels, shadow detail in product shots and graded footage hold their separation rather than flattening to grey, which is what designers notice first when moving from an ordinary IPS screen.
What is the Hotkey Puck G3?
