Compact Online Double-Conversion UPS at Unity Power Factor
The Vertiv™ Liebert® ITA2 40 kVA (ITA-40k00AL3302P00) is an online double-conversion UPS rated 40 kVA / 40 kW — the output power factor is unity, so the full 40 kW is available to the load. It is a three-phase in / three-phase out unit (380/400/415 V) for small computer rooms, telecom and industrial loads.
Vertiv rates double-conversion efficiency at up to 96.5% and ECO mode at up to 99%. The 0.99 input power factor and input current THD below 3% make it an easy load for the building supply or a standby generator.
Long Backup Model: Runtime Sized to Your Site
This is the long backup version: it has no internal battery and needs at least one external battery cabinet (Liebert ITA2 battery cabinet 02010024, sold separately). The benefit is flexibility — you choose how many cabinets to fit for the runtime you need, and a powerful built-in charger (≤13 A) recharges large battery banks quickly.
The input window is wide: 176–288 VAC at full load, down to 100 VAC with linear derating, so the UPS rides through poor mains without going to battery.
Rack or Tower, Built for Hot and Dusty Edge Sites
The ITA2 is a compact 3U-high chassis (430 x 730 x 130 mm W x D x H) that mounts in a 19-inch rack or stands as a tower; the gravity-sensing LCD rotates to suit. Vertiv designed it with channelled airflow and a dust-resistant construction, and rates it to operate at up to 50 °C ambient (derating conditions apply) and 3,000 m altitude without derating.
Programmable output with cascade protection lets you prioritise key devices. Units can be paralleled for capacity or redundancy (up to 4 units, N+X).
Monitoring, Bypass and Start-Up
Each unit ships with Vertiv’s IS-UNITY-DP SNMP/Web card for network monitoring. For serviceability Vertiv offers matching service bypass panels and 1+1 power output distribution (POD) units for this rating (see Ordering Information). Vertiv requires a commissioning start-up by an accredited service provider on the 10–40 kVA ITA2 — its warranty runs from the start-up date — and SourceIT can quote the Vertiv start-up service (88025221) with the UPS.

What It Is Suited To
Server rooms, edge and branch IT, telecom, CCTV and light industrial loads. Keep the continuous load below 40 kW with headroom for growth; because the output PF is unity, the kW rating equals the kVA rating.
Electrical Connection
The ITA2 40 kVA connects via input, bypass, output and battery terminal blocks: input 380/400/415 VAC line voltage, 3-phase (A, B, C, N, PE); output 380/400/415 VAC, 3-phase. Installation should be done by a licensed electrician to the breaker and cable sizes in the Vertiv user manual.
Monitoring and Shutdown
The supplied IS-UNITY-DP card provides web and SNMP monitoring over the network. Use it with your NMS or with Vertiv shutdown software to close down servers gracefully on a long outage.
Batteries
Long backup model: plan for at least one Liebert ITA2 battery cabinet (02010024). Runtime depends on load and the number of cabinets — ask SourceIT for a runtime calculation.

Does this UPS have batteries inside?
No. This is the long backup model with no internal battery — it needs at least one Liebert ITA2 external battery cabinet (02010024), sold separately. SourceIT can size the number of cabinets for your runtime.
