The VIGI NVR2008H-8MP is the two-bay, rack-width member of the eight-channel PoE+ range. It carries eight 802.3at/af ports with a 93 W budget, two SATA bays taking 16 TB each, an eSATA port, and — as TP-Link publishes it — a 2 TB hard disk already fitted, so the recorder works the moment it is powered.

Two Drive Bays and a Disk in the Box

Unlike the single-bay 1008H models, this recorder has two SATA interfaces, each taking a drive up to 16 TB, plus an eSATA port for external storage. Eight PoE+ Ports With a 93 W Budget

Decoding is published as 2-ch at 8MP, 4-ch at 4MP or 8-ch at 2MP at 25 fps, and 4-ch at 3MP or 2-ch at 5MP at 30 fps. Because this chassis is actively cooled, the anomaly alarm set adds fan exception alongside video loss, offline and IP conflict, disk exception and login exception.

Full Smart-Detection Event Set

General alarms cover motion detection, video tampering, scene change, line crossing, intrusion, region entering and exiting, loitering, object abandoned and removal, vehicle detection, human detection, abnormal sound detection and smart frame. Linkages include recording, white-light alarm, buzzer, log and audible alarm. Human and vehicle classification is what keeps an outdoor site from alerting on every moving shadow.

Rack-Width Chassis and HTTPS Management

At 330 x 285 x 45 mm and 2.1 kg net, this is the full-width unit in the eight-channel range. TP-Link notes that because of its weight a tray is recommended when mounting into a rack with angle iron, and that the tray is not included. The protocol stack includes HTTPS, SSL/TLS and RTSP, with ONVIF Profile S and CGI for third-party cameras, and management via the local GUI, a browser, the VIGI app or VIGI Security Manager.
