The VIGI C440-W is a 4MP turret camera that joins a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network instead of needing a cable run, while keeping a wired RJ-45 port for when you want one. Two white LEDs and two 850 nm IR LEDs both reach 30 m, two-way audio is built in, and a microSD card of up to 512 GB records on board. TP-Link publishes no IP rating for this model.

2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, Exactly As TP-Link Publishes It

Wi-Fi is 2.4 GHz only, on channels 1-13, with radio bandwidth of 20 MHz or 40 MHz and Auto published as N/A. The wireless rate row reads "11Mbps(802.11b) 54Mbps(802.11g) 150/300Mbps(802.11n)" — TP-Link names the 802.11 standards inside that rate row rather than in a separate standards row, and there is no 5 GHz band or Wi-Fi 6 claim anywhere on the page. Two 2.4 GHz welded dipole omni-directional antennas of 2.0 dBi gain are fitted, transmit power is listed simply as High, and wireless mode is AP and AP Client.

What TP-Link Does Not Publish: PoE and an IP Rating

The specification table lists one RJ45 10/100M self-adaptive Ethernet port, so a wired connection is genuinely available. PoE is not published for this model: the term appears nowhere in the interface or power rows, and the only published power input is 9-12 V DC at 0.85-1.0 A through a 5.5 mm coaxial plug, with a power adapter supplied in the box. Do not plan to power this camera from a PoE switch on the strength of TP-Link's published specification. TP-Link also publishes no IP rating, waterproof claim or outdoor rating for the C440-W, and the housing material is plastic.

4MP Imaging and Full-Colour Night Vision

Maximum resolution is 2560 x 1440 on a 1/3 inch progressive scan CMOS sensor, with 2304x1296, 2048x1280, 1920x1080 and 1280x720 also offered. Frame rates reach 25 fps on 50 Hz and 30 fps on 60 Hz, though TP-Link notes that image rotation of 90 or 270 degrees caps the rate at 20 fps. Main-stream encoding is H.265+, H.265, H.264+ or H.264 at 256 Kbps to 3 Mbps. Two white LEDs give full colour to 30 m and two 850 nm IR LEDs give monochrome to the same distance, from a minimum illumination of 0.005 Lux, or 0 Lux with either illuminator running.

Smart Detection, Two-Way Audio and On-Board Recording

Smart events cover human and vehicle classification, area intrusion detection, line-crossing detection, people and vehicle detection, region entering and exiting, object abandoned and object removal, abnormal sound detection and scene change detection. Basic events cover motion detection, video tampering and exception for illegal login. Alarm linkages are memory card video recording, message push, audible warning and white light flashing. A built-in microphone records within a 5 m radius, a speaker supports two-way audio with environment noise filtering, and the microSD slot takes cards up to 512 GB. The card is not supplied.

Lens, Build and Environment

The fixed 4 mm F1.6 lens on an M12 mount gives a field of view of 80 degrees horizontal, 43.2 degrees vertical and 94.2 degrees diagonal, with DORI distances of detect 80 m, observe 33 m, recognise 16 m and identify 8 m. Manual adjustment covers 360 degrees of pan and rotation with 0 to 85 degrees of tilt. The plastic housing measures 123 x 83 x 123 mm and weighs 0.24 kg net, and the published operating range is -30 to 60 C at 95 percent humidity or less, non-condensing.

Ideal For

Sheltered Singapore interiors where pulling network cable is awkward — retail units, clinics, offices, stockrooms, lift lobbies and staircase landings within reach of a 2.4 GHz access point.
