The VIGI NVR1104H-4P is the newer four-channel PoE+ recorder in TP-Link's VIGI range. It keeps the four-port 53 W PoE+ switch and 8MP input of the NVR1004H-4P, and adds a built-in speaker for real-time audio without external hardware, side-access hard-disk installation, a fuller network protocol stack and ONVIF Profile S.

Four PoE+ Ports, One Cable Per Camera

Ports 1 to 4 are RJ-45 10/100 Mbps self-adaptive interfaces compliant with 802.3at/af, with 53 W available across all PoE+ ports and 30 W maximum on any single port. Each camera takes one cable for power and data, and a separate RJ-45 10/100 Mbps port links the recorder to your LAN. TP-Link notes that the published PoE budget comes from laboratory testing and will vary with client load and environment.

Built-In Speaker and Side-Access Drive Bay

Unlike the NVR1004H-4P, this model carries a speaker, so real-time audio output works without peripherals — useful where the recorder sits in a back office and an operator wants to hear an alarm without wiring a monitor's audio. The single SATA bay is reached from the side of the chassis, so a drive can be installed or swapped without dismantling the unit. Capacity is up to 10 TB per drive; the drive itself is not included.

8MP Recording in H.265+ at Up to 30 fps

Incoming bandwidth is 80 Mbps and outgoing is 60 Mbps. Recording covers 8MP down to QCIF in H.265+, H.265, H.264+ or H.264. TP-Link publishes decoding capability at two frame rates: at 25 fps, 2 channels at 8MP or 4 channels at 4MP; at 30 fps, 4 channels at 4MP or 3 channels at 5MP. HDMI outputs up to 3840x2160 at 30 Hz alongside VGA at up to 1920x1080, running simultaneously.

A Full Smart-Detection Event Set

General alarms cover motion detection, video tampering, scene change, line crossing, intrusion, region entering and exiting, loitering, object abandoned and removal, vehicle detection, human detection, abnormal sound detection and smart frame. Anomaly alarms cover video loss, offline and IP conflict, disk exception and login exception. Linkages include recording, white-light alarm, buzzer, log and audible alarm. Human and vehicle classification is what keeps an outdoor site from alerting on every passing shadow.

Modern Protocol Stack and ONVIF Profile S

The network stack published for this model is considerably fuller than on the NVR1004H-4P: UPnP, NTP, SMTP, TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, HTTP, HTTPS, DHCP, RTSP, SSL/TLS, RTP, IPv4 and ARP. HTTPS and SSL/TLS matter for any recorder reachable from outside the LAN. Interoperability is ONVIF Profile S and CGI, with management from the local GUI, a browser, the VIGI app or VIGI Security Manager.
